2020 Pre Season and Trial Games

Kurt Gidley saying after a run with the boys that he has the fitness and went OK with the contact but lacks speed and size he had as a player.
Sounds like the best way to use him, given the makeup of the side, would be to get him to do as long as he can at dummy half, just passing, not running.
That, and doing his usual constant talking, would be very useful, if he could do that for half of each game.
 
Reserve grade squad has been announced

Hayden Loughrey - halfback, 5/8 or fullback who played Flegg and reserve grade in 2018 but missed 2019 with a knee re-construction

Brandon Russell - lock forward who trained with reserve grade last year but missed most of the year with injury, had a few games at the end of the year and had outstanding stats

Jack Cameron - prop from flegg last year

Tevita Alifa - hard running lock or prop in his second year out of Flegg

Cam Anderson - don't know him (maybe they mean Grant Anderson - fullback or wing from flegg last year)

Matt Cooper - prolific try scorer through the grades for us - fullback who is the king of backing up breaks - had an average year in Qld cup last year.

Zac Hosking - honest toiler who is usually our hardest working in reserves - lock or prop

Lewis Hamilton - second row from Flegg last year

Lyndon Hills - played real NRL last year I think - came through the junior for us

Matt Soper-Lawler - wing or fullback who played flegg for us 3 years ago. played qld cup for the last 2 years and had an off season for Melbourne - top try scorer in Qld cup last year

Bayden Searle - still young enough for Flegg I think - still training with firstgrade, joined the club from Dubbo Cyms 12 months ago - halfback
 
No Chris Randall or Tyrone Roberts-Davis - both probably getting a contract IMO.

No Toby Marks or Dylan Lucas - probably going to Flegg
 
Matt has always been an honest kid. Seems to find the try line out of nothing. I've got a lot of respect for him and his family. Great people.

If they are eligible for Flegg they wouldn't need a Canterbury Cup contract, even if they end up playing every game there.

There's been interviews with plenty of the young blokes and 1 thing is very noticeable to me. They all seem very keen, prepared to work hard and seem to have faith that they'll at least be looked at.

I was just reading something yesterday that Cogger is in the number 5 jersey for the dogs ..Is that right does anyone know .
 
Just on their QLD cup numbers you'd have to think Soper-Lawler would be in front. Interesting that he was named amongst the Canterbury Cup contracted players already.
