2017/2018 Knights Player signing speculation

We're just waiting for all the other teams to push out their marquee players for some reason. Then the marquees will choose the knights and not the storm/tigers/Sharks/dragons.
 
It isn't that hard.
We just keep making good offers to players that would improve our roster, and eventually someone will take the offer.
The alternative is pissing the money away because we panic.
 
Brown has clearly stated we may have to pay overs for a marquee signing. I think we all agree.

Most complaining about Brown just quote things he has already said.
 
Only other club that may need a half is Panthers. So Its us for 1-1.5 mil, Panthers (Not sure how much they can afford) or retirement. Hopefully he takes the big contract from us for a last deal. We can get rid of Hodko and his 600k paycheck and gives a chance for Lamb, Feeney, Cogger etc to learn under the best half in the world!
 
I'm sure he would actually, no guarantee he plays on. Especially if qld win origin and Storm the premiership, he'll hang them up.
 
To stay in Sydney with the fiancé, play with a Sydney club and/or retire and work with Fox or to travel an hour or two down the road to Newcastle, hardly associate with the squad and still have to travel home, hmm seems like a tough decision.
 
One thing I don't understand is how people are actually happy with the job Brown is doing? Fair enough he inherited a mess but so far all he has done is move on a heap of players and won 2 games from 33 attempts. He hasn't attracted any high profile players just a few journeymen and paid massive money for a kid ......

First- Because it's not that he hasn't attracted players. Newcastle hasn't attracted players. It simply not an attractive place.

Second- Who do you replace him with? Do we start from scratch again?

I don't think anyone expected us to even make the 8 within the first 3 years. 88 even bet a corporate box on it.

I was expecting better this year but panicking won't help. Plus the injuries haven't helped.

It was his idea to start from scratch and bring in marquee players. He can't turn around now and say 'It's not My fault we can't get players it's the clubs fault'.

I don't get why people are defending him so much? No other club would except winning 2 games in 33 ......

I said it before I don't think he understands what type of club we are, throwing money at marquee players has never been the Newcastle way. It just doesn't work here ......

I wouldn't blame Brown for last year. That's on us.

And it's not all his fault this year.

I'm not sure Brown is the answer. I'm just pretty sure sacking him isn't.

You're right. We have never really tried that.

The way we succeed is by having the best player ever luckily grow up in our area.

So how should we go about doing that again.
 
Don't get me wrong.

I'm not 100% sure Brown will work out.

I just can't stomach the only alternative I've been given.

i.e. The Newcastle Way
