2013 Holden Cup U20s Thread

Is this Tevita Pangai? I'm assuming it is as his surname is Pangai but looks to have changed his surname.. He is a big boy.

I'm surprised Kelvin Lowe didn't make the side. How has he been training does anyone know? He certainly has the talent to excel at this level.

That's his older brother Kilu. It would be pretty big if Tevita was already in the NYC squad after playing Harold Matt's in 2012.

I have just been looking on the Newcastle knights site for the boys profiles there is nothing on 2 boys Honeti Tuha and Jah Paku dose anyone know much about these 2 boys?

Awwk thanks, thought he might of changed his name as alot of polynesian boys tend to do so. That guy is a massive unit after seeing him play yesty.

Yes Tevita is at Canberra now.

Yes I know Tevita Pangai is at the Raiders just wasn't sure if he had changed his name and that was him or not.

The Newcastle Knights Holden Cup squad have suffered a Round 1 loss to the West Tigers.

West Tigers 22 (Tries: Li, Brooks, Rowe, Mulcahy. Goals: Mulcahy 3/4)
Newcastle Knights 12 (Tries: Clydesdale, Mamo. Goals: Shipard 2/2)

Bad loss - we had 54% of possession and led till the last 15 minutes.
Clydesdale topped the tackle count with 35.
Pat Mataútia ran for 159 metres from centre.
Michael Steele made 25 tackles and ran for 124 metres. He played lock after Elias moved to centre to replace Alison.
Jackson ran for 125 metres.
New fullback Tuha ran for over 100 metres in the first half, but they must have decided to kick away from him in the second half.
Tapine also had good stats, especially in the seconf half.

I like the look of the 12 Tapine and 13 Elias. Tuha looks great on his feet but bit of loose hands returning the footy. That's one that got away that's for sure

Not quite a cut and paste because Allison and Boyce didn't play yesterday, replaced by Widders and Fitzgibbon, and Rouse didn't play either.
Yesterday's loss was probably OK because we led last year's premiers for over half the game and I think we have a lot of improvement still.

Was not to sure about our new commer Jah Pakau but after seening his perfomance on Monday night then to read "Newcastle look to have extended their lead in the 64th minute when Jah Pakau showed great strength to carry three Tigers players over the line with him, only to lose control of the ball at the crucial moment".
this in the rugby league website and the West Tigers commenting similar about this boys strength im glade we have him on our side im sure he is going to be a good assett to the team.

The final stats are done (from video review) - and Tapine had some quality stats - led metres run by a forward with 145, led tackle breaks with 13, led line breaks with 2, 4th highest tackle count with 26. The only bad stat was he topped missed tackles with 4.

Clydesdale 35 tackles, 1 try, 1 try assist and led the kick metres with 4 kicks for 105 metres.
Pat Mataútia 155 metres run
