2012 recruits

Oh come on, haven't posted here in a while it felt right :D

I spooose that's a pretty good excuse.

Also looking through the knights previous players i found a guy called David Boyd that played for us in the 90s any idea if he is related to Darius Boyd?

Impossible to say for sure, but I very much doubt it.

Boydy was a legend - the first player to clock up 100 games for us!!!

yeah cowboys have a good backline and with bowen it is impossible to say that they are not far behind the sharks. NO MATTER which way you put the sharks line up or how much you argue about it they will be the most lacking backline in the competition. There is no team with a WORSE backline out of all the nrl and i would like to bet in the super league as well. The sharks will miss the top 8 you heard it hear first:) as well as probably miss the top 12 that is how much faith i have in them the only team who even comes close to that is the dragons which will most likely miss the top 8 and definetly miss the top 6. Anyway any of you guys wondered how good newcastle would be if we retained every junior that had talent? we would have michael ennis, ashley graham, kalifa fai fai loa, brad tigheand luke walsh as well as other.

We never had Ashley Graham?? On the Cowboys backline is near as bad as the Sharks, that's s big overstatement! Bowen is a bit of an inconsistent at times superstar, Fai-Fai Loa is a NZ winger now, reminds me so much of Vuna, Tate is a Kangaroos centre & experienced, Linnett was meh in 2011 but he can be a good player as we saw in 2010 & Graham had a great season this year!

I don't even think the Sharks backline is that bad, as i said before Gardner is a gun, Stapleton is a very good player, Wright was really good this year, Best is an experienced campaigner at best, Mills is a good prospect & John Williams is a solid player who gets the job done.

The Panther's back line has Michael Gordon and Jennings. Coote is good for the odd kick chase and solid run but is nothing special. That's one decent winger, one 'out of form but could be something special if he wanted to' center and an okay fullback. Who else is there? David Simmons, Purtell, Burns, Walsh, Tighe and Elford. It's a bunch of good players surrounded by a bunch of cushions.

The Sharks backline is a lot better than you give it credit for. You really haven't seen a Sharks game have you? They get let down in their backline because the players never really fire at the same time, it's always one player hits great form while the other drops off. If Carney can gel them together they have a few game breakers in there in Kelly and Gardney, and strong runners like Williams, Mills, Wright and Stapleton.

Look if it is not the forwards and you have recruited todd carney in 7 and issac degois in 9 where is the biggest problem in their team? Also the difference between the exceptional players and the average players is the ability to have good form consistently. But how many clubs do you think will chase after Gardner or any others of their backline compared to their other clubs fullbacks?

Their problem next year will be against the top teams. They have a team to compete against everybody out of the top 4, but their roster isn't deep enough across the park to really challenge the top teams. It's a very respectable side, but like us this year, it lacks star power (or in absence of that, great depth).

I think all the club scouts would understand Gardner has a lot of potential, but they also realize he's young and hasn't found too much consistency. Another reason is that every single side in the NRL has stuck to a trend of putting one of their most talented players at fullback. Every team has a decent fullback. You have Slater, Barba, Dugan, Hayne, Coote, Beale (?), Boyd, Stewart, Bowen etc etc etc, and at the Sharks it's no different. It's not a position that is in high demand at the moment because there are enough good fullbacks going around and most of them don't look to be moving.

Gold Coast planning to play Jamal Idris on the wrong side of the field... Should be interesting. Just on the Titans, they have 3 Origin backrowers & one that's on the verge!

11. Bird
12. Minichiello
13. Harrison

16. Myles

They had a very good team on paper last season as well...don't know what happened seeing as I didn't see many of their games. If i had to put a finger on it I'd say lack of a real halves combination.

Yeah that was real problem this year, Prince was average & they had no set five-eighth, just kept shuffling around Henry, Bird, Capewell, Rankin, Rogers, Campbell & Zillman.

they could go well with beau henry he is a good player but the gold coast seemed reluctant in playing him i think he got like 1 or 2 games in the nrl and also they lacked this year because both of their wingers were out for the whole season. correct me if i am wrong in around rd 1 or 2 they got injured so they just didnt have the depth to be competitive. In 2012 they will improve and i think they will finish around 12-5 position it really does depend on wether they want to try. Also Newcastle looks absolutely gun next year anyone else feel like they should just send the trophy to newcastle before the season starts because they are simply that EPIC.

p.s they can also send the minor premiership and the world club challenge trophy as well to newcastle because which team can compete with newcastle? NO ONE CAN

Not about recruits, but the 2012 Warriors jerseys.

That home jersey is probably one of the best jerseys I've seen. Looks amazing.

I love the red one, too - Probably because I was such a fan of our 06 red jersey.

Yeah, although the red one is the NYC one so unfortunately it won't be seen in the NRL you would think. Looks like a national team jersey for China to me!

It looks as though they've taken a retro look into 2012, it just makes me even more keen for our 88 jersey to be fulltime & just stay like that forever. :(

It could easily become iconic like the Souths or Saints jersey, it is just so Newcastle!

No, it looks more like they're original Auckland strip.. It's better that they've taken a retro look in there jerseys. Most of the made up ones out of thin air these days look like failed attempts at a futuristic look of a design, but you never know, maybe our kids will be saying the same things about the jerseys from nowadays in the future & how good & original they were haha.

I'd relate blue or green more to Auckland than red, I dont know it just looks really dumb imo. I agree with josh2010.
