Aussies to rely solely on pace
By Adam Cooper
January 15, 2008 SPEEDSTERS Brett Lee and Shaun Tait will bowl short bursts at full throttle as Australia backed an all-pace attack to create cricket history in the third Test against India at the WACA Ground.
Showing faith in pace for an unprecedented 17th successive victory, Tait's inclusion made it the first time Australia selected four quicks since 1992, coincidentally when India last played a Test in Perth.
But opener Matthew Hayden will not be a part of the tilt at history, as hamstring soreness will break his run of 86 consecutive Tests, but provide fellow left-hander Chris Rogers with a home-town debut.
