Finals Week 1 vs ??? at ???

Rabbitohs have a massive last 2 weeks, last week's Jai's 99th and this week his 100th.

We will odd's on play them and hopefully mentally there is a bit of a come down.

Love Jai and no disrespect intended just coming from a Knights POV.
 
It’s all going to come down to if Roosters rest players or not
If they don’t I think they beat Rabbits and we play Cowboys in Newy as they should beat raiders
If they do then rabbits definitely win and we play them at Accor

It was interesting hearing KP speak with such confidence in the press conference. He said his dad was going to go across for the yesterday’s game but told him not to worry because we’ll play the Warriors at home at point come finals and he can go then.

Even yesterdays event didn’t seem to shake his confidence too much

Wouldnt surprise me if Holbrook had something to do with it. If we want the team to to believe, then we want Kalyn to beileve it and have that confidence.
 
Most likely matchup after this weekend is probably souths at Accor.

Sharks losing means roosters are locked into the top 4 so they may rest this week against souths. However there may be a chance they play full strength to give DCE and Savala some reps, they also may not want to go into finals on a three game losing streak against the wahs or panthers away. (we need souths to lose for the home final)

Big chance cows rest as well since they are also locked into the 8 now, they have nothing to play for this week unless they’d rather have the chance to play against us at home instead of the sharks (Trindall expected to be back).
If souths lose and cows win it’d mean we play the cows at home which in my opinion is a favourable match up for us.

If we are to play souths I think us winning depends entirely on how Sandon defends. Cody will have Duncan running at Sandon all day and I just see Sandon bitting and getting held up too many times which will create tons of one on one opportunities for Trell against gags. Could be the perfect warm up game for a big team in week 2 if we came away with a W.

Not expecting a comp but would much rather at least one finals win to end the season than to make the 8 just to go out in week one after such a positive year.
 
I was ready to give up on the season myself yesterday. Seeing the attitude of Holbrook was so refreshing though. Just the dust ourselves off and go again, I know whoever we face week 1 we will show up ready to go. In the past it felt like having the excuses locked and loaded was enough.
 
Anyone know what dates/day we will play the first final knowing we will be 6th or 7th? Talk about limping into next week. The week off will do good, but we could be missing up to six starters worst case.

I think most would agree the year is to too long, and the speed of the game doesn’t help. I think 24 rounds would be better.

We will play either Saturday or Sunday
Hopefully just missing Brown, Lucas and Saf which will give us a good shot at winning imo
 
Having a look they might be forced to put Knights v Rabbits on the Friday. Even if they rest their whole team making Penrith back up on Friday night would seem unfair and the Warriors can’t kick off at 10pm on Friday night.

If the game is in Newcastle I think they will put us as the Sunday game
Sharks elimination game Friday night
Warriors first game Saturday and panthers late game
 
Is what it is. We’ve had a far better year than expected. Whoever we play, we will put in a good performance with whoever we put out on the park. Unlike our run in 2023, I don’t see us capitulating the next few years. I really feel we are finally on the up and Holbrook has us believing we are. Just a shame we were crueled by injuries this season
 
How’s our week one record in finals? Besides 2013 I swear we’ve been done in every other year in recent times. Doesn’t fill me with a great deal of confidence.

But, we’re there and we’ve earnt it this year after what was a dismal 2025. Hopefully the boys switch on and come out ready to rumble.

Won in 23 against the raiders
 
Beside that game in 23, we have always been knocked out first game under AOB. But, as said we are the same team this year we are much better. I would have been way more confident if Jsaf was playing. If Manu plays we are a much better chance.
