Poor performance, just wanted to play touch footy without doing any of the hard work. Really poor game from our halves, terrible control of the game. Probably would have won if didn’t give that try away before half time. Thought Mooney and friz were the only ones that wanted to roll the sleeves up.

That's quite a few games where Ponga has thrown an awful pass way ahead of its target

That come back was due to the knights playing direct through the middle with second phase play and support runners. Not once did going around them with Gagai and Young work. So why at the death do the one thing that hasn’t worked all game!

Hopefully they realise that now. Play like that and they can beat plenty of teams

Hunt seems to have cut out the errors and is looking better every game. Hope they can keep him

Calm down hero. We sucked and deserved to lose. Ponga was our best by a margin,

Just cant pass a ball to win a game.

We lost it in the first half. That dumb pass by Gags, and then we didn't defend that error, gave them 6 points that we couldn't run down.

Souths were poor, too. Missing their best players.

Sharks next week and Roosters the next, will put things into perspective.

Yeah. I just hope we don't turn on this team if we get pounded by both and then drift down towards the edge of the 8. The team has still made massive strides. But we just aren't a top 4 team yet. Next year we will be much better.

tbh it was like the previous souths game at Mac Jones but in reverse.

I guess the only good thing to say about it is that they played horrendously bad and still had an opportunity to win it at the end. They’re really just their own worst enemy.

We really see how the coaching staff is going this year, they have to get us back on track. We dont have to score all the fancy stuff but we really need to be in these games and with a tough couple of games ahead the coach might have to give them a bit of a rev up

Basically the last 5 or so weeks, except we were versing lesser teams. I fear there's gonna be a game where we get thumped soon and get a real reality check, and it could easily be next week against Sharks.

I think there needs to be a balance between our new expansive approach and the super conservative approach of last year. It's nice to know we can score from anywhere. But that doesn't mean we need to try to score from every set. In its purest form, this expansive approach is not sustainable for a finals game imo. We almost got away with it again. But against systems based teams like Penrith and the Warriors who are almost machine like in their discipline and mastery of the possession game, we are going to be absolute cannon fodder if we play like that.

This one and the Melbourne game are 2 that will hurt at the end of the season I reckon

Hopefully it's a loss we needed to have. Lots of lessons there if we want to take them ... play more direct, pay attention to detail and ice those chances, imo a bit less disruption to the structure of the team where it's not needed ...

Think the effort was there, but execution wasn't great. Souths played well. Was always going to be a danger game with that emotion and motivation.

On the upside, defence has really picked up and thought there was some good steel from us on our line there today. Seemed like we almost saw the 20 metre zone in attack the most out of any game this year, too - our inexperienced forwards did a good job.

Anyway, we were due a loss, now it's how we rebound from it. Take the right things out of this match, and it can propel us to better things.

Yeah draw breath , remember we are in a good position.We still have control of our own destiny .Just have to play smart . Was really hoping these were the games that Brown would make a diffence?

Souths decided today was their grandfinal, playing for their mate and their culture.

Once they were convinced they had it won they went back to their usual selves and we nearly ran them down.

Terrible luck for us that their mate had a birthday and they were prepared to put their bodies on the line to do something for him.

They won't play anywhere near that again this year,

I think its because of how bad we have been for so long I forget that we are just outside the top 4 which for us is pretty good. The team is has definitely taken steps in the right direction
