Club only has a 150k development spot.
Frizell says he hopes he won't be "disrespected" by a low offer. Holbrook and O'Sullivan both want him to stay.
Bit weird for Frizz to say, I mean there is a limited salary cap, everyone knows the team want to keep him but they will give what they believe they can it’s that simple.

I love Frizell but If it does come to frizz or a junior, I’d say goodbye to him. Comes of a bit entitled for mine.

Ive heard he is looking at going to the Dogs.

I'll feel justified in my dislike for players like Schiller and McCarthy who were basically asked to leave but held on knowing it might cost the team a critical player like Frizell for next year. Useless ****s **** off and play Cup elsewhere. We gave you a fair crack and you weren't good enough

Seriously? 😱Schiller & McCarthy have contracts though, so they don’t have to leave. Like any young athlete they are likely backing themselves to earn a spot the team in 2027. Both players are young and at the start of their careers. If in their shoes, would you honestly give up an opportunity to live YOUR dream and build a career for a bloke who has already had a great career, so a team that you will no longer be at may or may not have another senior player on the books at your expense.

What happens with Frizz is nothing to do with either of those players. Crazy to blame them for staying.

Ive made this point in a previous post. Its hard to blame them for desperately holding on for dear life. But if the outcome is that we lose our 2nd best middle, one of the most senior voices at the club, without a replacement. That's a huge problem. It basically eliminates any advantage we gained by signing Niukore to play in the middle.

Schiller and McCarthy have had shots in FG and havent impressed. The club told them they weren't wanted for next season i.e. their presence at the club is not in the clubs best interests

Stay if you want. But don't expect to be treated like all else is equal

Those are just the usual baseless Foxsports rumours

Yeah love Frizz but I'm not losing sleep over not getting into a bidding war for him.

100%. The club offered those players the contracts they're playing to. Those players aren't in charge of Knights recruitment. There's every chance Friz signs elsewhere regardless of what happens with them.

Toohey hints the club might find a way to move someone on (Shiller and McCarthy were mentioned).

Mentions the fake chant and says everyone hated it at the Tigers game.

Says Brown knows he had a poor game then talks up Brown's defence and gives stats.

Says Dobson is doing well coaching reserve grade and mentions his contract ends this year.

Says Jefferies also is at the end of his contract and he'll need to do well this year.

Says we have signed a big 17 year old prop called Elijah Galloway from Southport for next year. He has also represented Qld reds in Union at junior level. He is expected to add size to SG Ball next year.
Ben Hunt and Gags are both taking about $250k at the Bronx for next year.
Gags is an 80min player.

How much does Frizz want for a bench spot at his age? I think $150-$200K is fine. Wouldn’t be even worth moving just for a bit more anyway.

Not optimistic about with NRLW team doing well, there’s no way they don’t fall down the ladder, so hopefully this will be the last we see of Jeffries

Given Friz’s age and that he’s now coming off the bench rather than playing big minutes, I’m not sure what he’d realistically expect. We have about $150k left in the cap for next year according to the article, I think an offer in the $150k–$200k range is pretty fair and not disrespectful to him?

Niukore was always signed as the replacement for Friz. That was made very clear months ago. Keeping Friz wasn’t an option until recently.

That’s on recruitment, not two players who are staying as per their contracts. Still every chance Frizz gets a lucrative contract somewhere else and still walks. We cannot be playing top dollar for a player who has likely max two years left in NRL. By end of preseasons hopefully a couple of young guys have stepped up and announce themselves.

We should pay Frizell according to his value on the park for next year. Not out of charity but out of self interest. Despite what people might say, we need him and he is absolutely worth more than $150k. No is suggesting we pay him 'top dollar' and neither is he expecting that. He is a professional and gives us a lot and hes got a lot to give

Understand all this discussion re Frizell, salary cap, top 30 lockout but let’s be considering ones career closure.
Frizell has been an elite player giving his all week in week out with several clubs and is now in his twighlight years and I can understand his wanting to go out in a career defining season, not this though it might come, but hopefully next.
He will want to be welcomed for another season but will feel the salary should equal the desire to have him play rather than he signed for pittance, his self esteem, his career could be based on his worth as well as his ability to achieve a grand finally.
I would love him to stay for one more season but I will be also happy if he leaves, especially retires and is remembered for the player and person he is

Would be nice but we cannot pay more than what we have available in the cap and we cannot afford to screw over other young players either. As I mentioned it’s been said for months, Gags and Friz were not getting a contract, the latter has only just recently changed. POS will be doing what he thinks is best for the team.

You say Friz is not expecting top dollar but he also said he hopes it’s not a disrespectful offer. How much are you paying for a mid 30’s player coming off the bench with not much left in the in the cap. There is not much wiggle room it seems.

If POS doesn’t get it done with Friz, just going to have to trust the process.

Its hard to measure what he'll be worth next season given his age but I cant see how we could buy a better player or promote a better player using $300k, if that's any indication of his value.

I just dont think we can afford to lose him. If we'd signed a Moretti or a Colquhoun Id be a lot more comfortable letting him walk but Niukore likely won't give us as much Frizell does

Sad you’re judging a bloke who hasn’t even pulled on a jersey for us yet. He will literally play the same role as Friz, just in a younger body.
