Fletcher Hunt discussion

He was completely shot by the end of the day. Yes we had other bad performers but he played like Paul Carige and Greg Smith’s uncoordinated love child.

He makes errors every week in addition to some good things but he did nothing but make errors yesterday. A stint back in Cup is the best thing for him and the team.
Ideally he’d be still playing cup. If everyone is back fit that’s where he will be for the time being. He’s probably due a rest anyway

He had a bad game yes. But so did a bunch of others. No one’s talking about Sharpes 2 or 3 errors at the start of the game,
I was watching with mates and commenting that the Fletcher's are combining to kill us any hope of winning. Also the the forwards need to stop skipping and crabbing. Run it hard and straight. Earn the right to go wide, which we got better at , but were then stuffed.

The kid is massively talented. His not a genuine week to week first grader yet that’s evident. I’m confident Hunt will eventually play origin if he continues to grow and develop. You don’t score a hatrick against the roosters if you aren’t talented. We need to be patient with hunt.

Schiller on the other hand is the most rocks and diamonds player I think I’ve ever seen. I think he is on his last chance and will end up in SL which is a real shame because he has potential to be a great first grade winger.

I think Hunt needs time, he is a flat out effort player goes hard without looking for opportunities, hence gets tackled rather than link up and pass. Experience, coaching will assist his problem as he has come on too early to have developed, needs time in Cup to learn his craft and develop his talents

Nathan Brown said in an interview that players reached their best potential after 3 firstgrade off seasons and 50 firstgrade games.
Hunt has had 1 and a half firstgrade off seasons and 19 games of firstgrade - so he's about halfway there.
But he came to the Knights as a 5/8 and only played most of a Ball season in that position and 1 game of reserve grade, while playing every other spot in the backline in Flegg, reserve grade and firstgrade.

In short, I don't think we've even worked out what his best position is yet, let alone let him train and play in that role for long enough to settle into the team.

If another team offered him a position to train in and play for a year, he would be crazy to pass up the offer.

He's already extremely talented,
Just needs some development.
He'll be a great first grader in a couple of seasons.
Hope we keep him and don't lose him like Simi.
Good back up to have for now.

Wouldn't mind seeing how he goes on the wing also.

With KP locked up, he will be our next centre or wing. I think we should try and resign Marz, for 2 years with club option. Hunt will take over Gags spot either next year or the year after. I would find it crazy if the club let him walk.

Hunt had a very good kicking game as a 5/8 in Ball - for the Ball level of cause - he hasn't done any kicking for the best part of 2 years now.

The go to move in Ball was Hunt kicking or passing for De Courcey, and it worked like clock work at that level.

The #1 justification for bringing Sharpe closer to the ball is to capitalise on his pace off the mark and change of direction at speed as much as possible. I’m not saying Hunt’s a slowpoke but I also don’t think he’s a speedster, and the speed he has is more about momentum than a great 20m burst.

Haven’t seen anything about Hunt’s ball playing in shape to indicate he’s close to Sharpe on that front either. No comment on Hunt’s kicking, I wouldn’t know.

Still think long term Hunt is an outside back. We want to bulk him up. Think Lomax, Tupou.
