Holbrook & Ponga presser:

KP & Brown need scans, obviously. Holbrook says they think grade 2 MCL for Brown which would mean 3-4 weeks, but unconfirmed until scans. Ponga doesn't give anything away on how bad he thinks his hamstring is, but is upbeat as usual. (Even the most minor hamstring strains are typically 2-3 weeks as a rule of thumb.)

Holbrook says Sharpe will "hopefully" be back next week, and when pressed about whether it'll be at fullback or in the halves Holbrook says he's not fussed, and that this is the exact reason he cared more about trying players in different roles than settling on one spine through preseason. Said the players all know their roles and are confident in them.

Or better to play games we likely lose anyway (or are borderline) without them. Would be worse if it was titans, st george, tigers where we should win but lose due to the troop shortage.

They were pleasuring themselves over our misery. To be fair you couldn’t find bigger Knights haters than Voss and Ennis. They hate us like it’s their job.

I think this lineup allows us to play how we have through the opening 2 rounds with all 3 interchanging. Hunt for all his effort will be more one dimensional than sharpe at the back. Sharpe has the reputation to make defenders hold and commit a little more in shape compared to hunt. No knock on hunt either just completely different styles of fullback.
 
Apologies if someone else mentioned it, but Smith looked like he had a leg or back injury in the last 10. Not quite a limp but was walking like he had rock in his boot and an expression on his face to match.

Crokes seems to be a lot more relaxed, not having the axe hovering over his head if he makes a mistake.

I thought Saulo was quiet last week, but this week, I don’t know what his stats are and am not fussed either, he was good this arvo I thought.
Take out that ripper try saver, you could hear the contact in his runs today, he was having a crack
 
Great performance! I was watching from my brother’s birthday gathering, so couldn’t comment on here … but very impressed that we controlled the game in the second half and didn’t fall to pieces as I was 80% expecting.

Seriously Manly though, they rolled through us at times and really should have thrown a lot more at us in that second half. Almost looked like us last year, that was a putrid performance.

Was impressed with how Hunt stepped up, for me another good performance from a young squad member. Croker has looked much improved this year, is he turning a corner? Ponga and Brown both looked fantastic before going off. And Smith really controlled things beautifully in that second half. Was impressed by Graham on debut for us, as well. Looks like a good pick-up.

Attack is playing with so much more freedom … and it really helped us control that game in the second half. Can just imagine if it was last year, predictable set after predictable set, struggling up field 40 metres and ending up defending every set on our line. Great to see the turnaround.

Warriors will be tough, but our first game at home, and their first game away … hopefully our mindset is that we will make it damn tough for them!!
