Yeah I think after last year, I won’t apologise for being nervous about our chances each week for a while yet. Four wins at Brookvale in our history before yesterday, I think?

And on the commentators yesterday, I think they’re spot on that Manly were coming to get us early in that second half. $2.5 million out of the game injured for us, attacking weapons gone, Sea Eagles rolling through us easily at times, and some flimsy defence that had let in a few tries already. So I can’t argue with what they said, I don’t think I relaxed until the final ten.

But the try they conceded to Dom in the second half must have demoralised them, that was equally as soft as a couple we let in. And full credit to us after that point, we kept looking dangerous and controlled the game brilliantly. They barely got a sniff. A huge part of it was the mindset, I reckon … previous years we’d have gone into our shell in that second half with those players injured. Yesterday we kept attacking … didn’t score any more tries after Dom’s effort, but we kept searching for points, and that makes all the difference.
 
Sorry guys. Didn't mean to start anything with the death riding comment. Was just commenting on what I read through the game day thread as I typically read that after the game.

I saw a decent amount of negativity but had watched a team that was trying to be super positive and the only thing I can say negative is the two soft tries.
 
If we win next week I assume they’ll just give Warriors players all points if the can’t give them to Ponga/Brown.

Oh the game day thread is always chaos, people lose all sanity during the game. 😂
 
I gave Brown a point in MSKOTW so clearly I thought he was good too.

That’s just footy though isn’t it, to win you need a lot of guys putting in, and then the guy who has the two best moments of individual brilliance gets all the credit. The key thing is that internally our boys are wrapping guys like Croker & Saulo because Dally M judges won’t see anything they do.

You’d think being ex-players they might pay a bit of attention to what the workhorses do, but I guess not.

If AOB was still here he’d have been trying to get them to protect the 12 point lead and grind out a win. I think this style of play where we always look to attack suits Newcastle better
 
Let's hope Kalyn, Brown and Sharpe are getting their injuries out of the way early.

Nice to see Lucas and Besty injury free.
 
Manly just played like grubs. The late hits on Ponga were just cheap shots and slamming Ponga's head into the ground was just rubbish. If manly tried to win the footy Instead of the fight, they could of won. Manly have a crap coach and will be lucky to get out of the bottom four.

Yeah there were really grubby. I hope the club made a complaint to the NRL about the head slams in KP. If that happened to Nathan you can bet Ivan would have something to say.

I was a bit disappointed the other players didn’t react to them at all. Credit to KP though, he just got on with it. The hits he took leading up to his try, it’s amazing he was even there to score it in the first place given he was smashed twice badly.
