Thankfully there is just one game left in our season and the tenure of AOB.

I hope AOB does the right thing by the club and gives some of our rookies first grade experience in this game. I would play De Courcey, Crouch and Manuleleua.

Rookie coach Jason Ryles has the Eels building towards a brighter future, they have won 4 of their last 6 games and have the home ground advantage.

Sportsbet currently has the Eels at $1.27 and the Knights at $3.78.
 
Another 40+ game to watch to end the most garbage season in 10 years.

The Knights have been doing development wrong for a long time.

When we have a talent instead of bringing them up like so many clubs, we leave them in reserve for ages.

Melbourne with Su’a, Roosters with Toia, Dragons with Loko, etc they bring them up because they know the only way to grow is to play against the best not reserve graders.

But the Knights coddle and some fans accept it, leave them to waste their development because they are to good for where they are but no one wants to move them up to learn.

De Coursey should have been in first grade but the Knights and fans coddle with the same old “to young” crap sometimes people are just that good, Walker was another one the Roosters had no issue with.

Iron sharpens iron sometimes it is literally that simple. Some people have to realise not everyone “needs time” it’s so annoying watching so many teams blood young guys and they kill it, while the Knights hold people back.

I mean it toke Toia 10 games to be a rep player and De Coursey is as good if not a bit better at this stage than him in reserve and yet he toils in reserve grade because he picked the wrong team for his development.

By all means give De Courcey a run this week but this narrative is just entirely false.

Sharpe, Hunt, Cant, McEwen and Votano were all guys who have been debuted without even a full season of NSW Cup behind them. De Courcey is of course playing his first season against men in Cup and doing a very good job of it which is great - The reality is that 3/4 of the positions he is competing for are locked in while the 4th is hotly contested by comparable young talent and the incumbent has runs on the board despite current dire form.

Toia had been training with the first-grade side for 3 years before he made his debut, injuries limited his gametime in NSW Cup but he debuted that comp in 2023. Fa'alogo did a full 18 months playing QLD Cup before getting a final round debut off the bench. Loko Pasifiki Tonga played NSW Cup for 18 months before getting his debut when injuries struck this season.

There's no novel development approach we're missing here.
 
At least the Titans and Tigers play Saturday.

Tigers win and our game is irrelevant.
Titans win, and we are getting the spoon so don't watch it.

I won’t be tipping us, but I think it’s our best chance for a while. Eels sort of don’t have anything left to prove for the year, I can see them clocking off, and we should be pretty motivated to end the year well. Scoreline didn’t show it, but I thought we started a bit of a recovery yesterday, it was our best effort since the Warriors game. Just a shame it’s an away game, that won’t help us.

I think there would be a lot of Dads that would be happy if the game was played while they were having lunch with their families.
