How are we still doing this!?

Find a person who said “we wouldn’t miss him at all”.

I remember the debate because we had it 100 times. You said that anything besides ramming an offer Don couldn’t refuse down the throat of an agent who was refusing to deal with us somehow was a catastrophic fail on the part of club management. You said he was the best winger in the game and we should have been prepared to pay what it took somehow, even if he wouldn’t take anything from us.

The opposing position was that yes while he’s very good, he’s not the best winger going round, and there’s a hard limit on what you should pay a winger salary wise anyway (for me To’o is the only exception to this). Especially when we had Tyson Gamble as an every week starter in the halves, and our pack wasn’t that good. We all wanted him to stay but most had a limit on how badly we wanted it.

No one said we wouldn’t miss him. But also Sharpe replaced a lot of his value when he played there. That was the point. Dangerous try scoring wingers are more replaceable & more available than dominant middles and good halves. We needed middles (still do) and to upgrade the halves. I don’t get the need to misrepresent other people’s positions to make a point.

On the flip side, it’s not a misrepresentation of your point to say that the Roosters throwing Dom out as a “failure” proved how great they were as a club. Best winger in the game but not good enough for them I guess, and no reflection on them that he instantly looks better now he’s back in Newy…

I agree mate, I used to enjoy his commentary. I think he's just old and stale now, regurgitates the same **** week in, week out. I already had to smash a beer at the first mention of 'Knights contesting kicks', but I've also been subject to 'Dolphin's scoring tries for fun' after Cooper said it 7 times during the pre-game. Then I get the 'haven't seen someone called offside from a kick-off' since, idk, the last game.
