NRL Round 16 - Dolphins Vs Knights - 5:30pm Saturday 21 June - HBF Park, Perth

I actually think that Hastings wasn’t that bad, he actually seemed to try a few different things compared to what Cogger dished up all year and as he has played with those younger guys in NSW cup he seemed to be able to open those young guys up and they seemed to play some of their better first grade games

He may have run a little too much near the line but he also almost got over the line like 3 or 4 times

If he was a little quicker obviously from his injury then might have iced those darts at the line.

In reality it’s consistency across the board with all our halves though, 1 decent game then 2-3 big average games
I agree about the line running but I did think that a few times it was due to a lack of good options around him.

Imagine if he had someone with pace and that elusive running ability like Paps (or Sharpe 😊) on his shoulder.

100% fair, and i was thinking that. Ponga should be making all our halves life easier by being a constant threat on the inside shoulder.

For a rare Knights game over here, I should be more excited than I am, I have to say. Last time was part of the 10 game winning streak, and was the first Knights game in Perth since vs Western Reds at the start of the 1996 season (with the exception of the Perth Nines a few years ago where I was, ironically, on holiday in NSW). I was super keen for it.

Doesn't help that this time it's probably going to be a wet game too, and HBF Park has very little rain protection .. and umbrellas are not allowed into the ground.

I'll be there, decked out head to toe in red and blue, in full voice (which may or may not be a good thing..!), regardless of the weather and the scoreline.

I just hope I don't teach my 9yr old nephew that's coming with me too many new words and phrases that he takes to school on the Monday..!

Up the Knights!

Regardless who plays 7, Dolphins by 40

Cant wait to see the back of Cogger and Hastings both are high level trash cans and shouldn’t be first or second choice at any club
I disagree. I actually reckon we'll beat the Dolphins if we get a few players back next week

Haven't been watching the Dolphins play the last two weeks I take It. 🤣

Don't think we get Jsaf back as the Calf injury is recurring so they have to do the due diligence.

But if we have Best, and Dom added to the team, Obi mentioned Gamble could be back, Sharpe back, Frizz it's a much better squad.
I hold the fact we beat the Rooters if Sharpe played and probably by a couple tries

Our D has been holding and I think last two games has sown our attitude in defence hasn't turned to ****. We have some luck with injuries hopefully that turns our new found ball movement and ball control into some wins.

Phins playing great no doubt, I am keen to see our Defence against them, we have a habit of pulling off gritty wins against them when they have smashed a team previously.

Dolphins, Kaufusi likely suspended up to 3 wks with DanS and Gilbert out for season so light on up front.
Might not change result but with them out and us getting some back might keep them under a 40plus win

They’ve only beaten us once when we had a thousand blokes missing with injuries. Reckon we can get it done over there, especially if we get a bunch of players back.

Could/should be available.
Ponga
Sharpe
Best
Frizz
Dom
Gamble

Long shot Jsaf, not sure the deal with Herrington. I’m not sure he makes the starting 17 anymore. Marz also maybe out.

McEwen, ESL, Can’t over him.

Could this be what we’d be running out like:

1. Ponga
2. Schiller
3. Best
4. Gagai
5. Young
6. Sharpe
7. Cogger/Gamble
8. JSaf
9. Brailey
10. Frizell
11. Lucas
12. KPP
13. Crossland

14. Cant
15. Croker
16. Jones
17. McEwen/ESL

  1. Ponga (c)
  2. Young
  3. Gagai
  4. Best
  5. Marzhew/Hunt
  6. Sharpe
  7. Hastings
  8. Frizell
  9. Arthur
  10. Jones
  11. Lucas
  12. Pearce-Paul
  13. Crossland
Bench
14. Greacen
15. McEwen
16. ESL
17. Croker

Don’t need Cant as he really only deals with 13 and id save that spot for Croker who is a better 13, Greacen for an obvious prop spot along with either McEwen or ESL.

Who ever isn’t used for the prop role can fill in as a replacement second rower or prop if needed during the game

Hastings because he out performed Cogger who besides an extremely basic draw and pass try assist that all halfback could do, did nothing and missed most tackles, Hastings also looked more lively when running the ball getting over the line once.

I also thought some of Cogger poor passing was some of the reason why Hastings had to choose to run instead of passing as Cogs didn’t give him time.

I would tell Hastings to stop constantly hitting the 2nd rower close to the line as it’s very predictable, but that’s normally what a good coach does and we don’t have one.

Interesting wing selection coming up if Marzhew not fit.
Dom next to Gags, Schiller next to Best.
Will Schiller be picked on left after his horrid display left centre or will he make way for Dom and Hunt left wing.
And what if Ponga doesn’t back up, Hunt to f//b and back with Schiller or McCarthy on wing
