NRL Round 13 - Dragons Vs Knights - 8:00pm Friday 30th May - Jubilee Stadium

Players have to take the blame for this imo. If there were true leaders in the side they’d say right, this isn’t working, let’s try this. Can’t expect a coach to dictate their every move.

Unfortunately we’re never going to get any sort of tactical adjustment like that from our numbskull players. I don’t think Cogger even has a plan A, let alone a plan B!

Yeah no offence intended but coach knows the team we up against Vs the team we have.

Said in the presser they are a big team. So let's not get carried away with the excuses that the players can't think of an alternate idea.

I'm still surprised the excuses that get run out to excuse OB.

Not excusing the bad performance but we were lacking a lot of first grade players out there and we have a lot of Rookie players trying hard.
Croker tried hard and I think played well in the middle but where are the rest of them? AoB acknowledged that we are light on it the middles proving he knows something about football.
Crossland was constantly asking who to pass to tonight as nobody seem interested to take a hit and even Cogger took a hit up because nobody was running onto the ball, now that's messed up.
Our halves against panthers were hitting the line and passing but that was non existent last night and our short passes disappeared with that.
Sharpe is an awesome fullback but can't do it all just like KP.
You could see Shiller tell gags off for not passing and after then almost every time after that he passed and we started making line breaks.
Really like Hunt, he is playing out of position and you can tell but the dude has a lot of the Newcastle spirit and just competes.
Also why on earth does Brailey step to one of the ruck then stop back into our player every dam time!? Our halves lose time and it throws our fowards off, like the guy but he really needs to go.
I fed up with some of the performances but I'll come back every week to watch and support this great club

It's hardly an excuse for AOB, I'm saying when do the players take some responsiblity?

I think it's crazy to think some new coach is suddenly going to fix everything ... until the players take ownership and show some intelligence, there will be a bump for a few weeks and then it'll be back to the same old.

The crap culture at the club goes beyond the coach, but I'm not saying we don't need a new voice.

KPP’s stand and watch play, in fairness I believe the Ref had called him off side, raised arms indicating non involvement, so if he had attempted a tackle he would likely have been sent off, case of bad if you do and bad if you don’t.

I don’t think he gets binned.

But I think it’s an interesting glimpse into the mindset.
In the same circumstances, I can’t see a Storm or Panthers or Canberra player not just making the tackle or at worst just being in the way.

He had 2 things happen simultaneously. A player breaking at him and ref telling him he’s offside.
In that split second, he chose to play by the rules.

Hard to say, but I think most other clubs would be instinctually tackling the man.

You see it on the goal line a fair bit. The attacking player will change their line to target the player called out.

Interesting debate on broadcast about the referees role. If they are there to manage players and instruct them, or just police.

KPP doesn't get binned. It's just an instant penalty if he gets involved. He would have hoped someone in the line was able to cover for him, in hindsight he would have just had to make the tackle and give away the penalty.

In regard to Brailey, it seems everyone's dark on the guy. I don't think he's playing well but I thought we actually started to play better as a team once he was on. Forwards started running and making meters, and we were able to start getting offloads away, creating a bit of second phase play and causing a few problems for the dragons defense.

I was defending Brailey for ages as I feel for the guy and I do think he understands the ins and outs of hooker more than Crossland, but he’s been horrible and other than 1 play he was dreadful last night. He tries too hard to come up with the trick play but it’s either the wrong option or he’s too slow to execute it and it’s detrimental to the team. If we were any better with him on last night (I personally didn’t see it) I say it was because the Dragons clearly put the cue in the rack at halftime. I find in previous games our attack gets worse and slower when he comes on.

If we had a stronger pack Crossland and Brailey would look better.

What we need is to get rid of Hastings, Brailey and anyone on a bloated contract and spread that money out on a bunch of solid players especially forwards. We have Frizz playing prop ffs.

With the rise of Sharpe I would also give consideration to letting Ponga go and utilise that money on a few good players including a new halfback. Even at full strength this year this roster has struggled.

I thought friz would cop something, thankfully just the fine.

Another loss incoming against Manly, thankfully not at brookie as we always seem to cop 10 injuries as well as the loss there.

Well, comment was players take the blame for this, and not able to change tactics mid game etc. In response to my criticism of AOB. Not sure how that isn't excusing OB.

Thing is. AOB runs the same game plan no matter what, then complains after that we gave penalties away and it didn't work. He knew Dragons were big, but sent them out their to try and put muscle them grinding style.

Roster, AOB has been here long enough, he can't blame the roster as it's the roster he comes up with. If players aren't signing to play under him, well that's on him.

AOB excuse that we were beaten by the scheduling is laughable, the bloke had his excuse rolled and ready pre game. Didn't play Ponga because Sharpe killed it last week so he can afford to leave Pong out, then when we lose poorly, blames Ponga not being there. Goes on to whinge about our next game being Thursday, 6 days away from this game. And we only have 1 player in origin.

The bloke has history whingeing about short turnarounds, and long turnarounds in the past.

I get the players need to shoulder some of the blame, I get it's a combination of things, but maybe the players aren't playing FOR OB, maybe his systems and tactics are rubbish.

I think there are a lot of frustrated players in the knights squad. The clear lack of effective coaching must take it's toll on the players and results in poor plays like Brailey's and is producing penalties like Thompsons
