2025 Recruitment And Retention

Small lock, maybe utility/hooker option. More of a big minute defensive player than an impact player in attack. Interested to see how long he's signed for or if it's just for the rest of the year.
 
Hypothetical question here they are saying Galvin is only on 350 this year and next would you give up in a trade a young prospect say like Fletcher Hunt for Galvin for the next 18 months and try and convince him to stay. We could move sharpe back to the wing and move him into the centre when gags retires. Salary cap is supposed to be going up so should be able to give him something around the 7 to 800 if he keeps on progressing maybe a little more depending how much the cap goes up . I think he is a better fit next to brown and ponga then what sharpe has shown so far not saying sharpe won't get there but I would do the trade

The guy thinks Benji can't coach, couldn't see him being much higher on AOB.
 
Why are people talking about Sharpe to take Gags position when he retires?

I saw a lot of articles stating we promised Schiller the centre position when Gags retired as his preferred position is centre. I believe Schiller even said he came here as he believes his road to the centre spot was better.

If we go back on our word he walks just like we did to Leo and than we start getting a horrible reputation for not keeping our word which makes things a lot more difficult recruitment wise.

Players don’t get promised positions - there’s no guarantees in the NRL, you have to earn everything.
 
If we do get him I’d say he has to start in NSW cup and earn the wing spot, I know people are attached because of what he did before but Schiller is playing well and is our second highest try scorer I believe and isn’t playing bad enough to be dropped out of nowhere.

To drop him now would send a massive negative message, he isn’t setting the world on fire but neither is Dom, if we get him he needs to earn it’s his spot not just walk in and take someone else’s.

All of this is moot if we don’t get him obviously.
 
Well if they're happy to let him walk now, yes.

A compassionate grounds release to return "home" to your previous club is more convincing than "release me so I can go make more money at club x".

Probably true, it's not a great message, but I'd still have him straight back into first grade for us. Not like he's not match fit ... and he's been playing NSW Cup for another club. So why delay the inevitable?
 
This is why the Roosters are a top club. They don't tolerate failure. They're brutal but no one criticises it because they expect as much from the Roosters
 
Re Dom, is there any indication we’d be his landing spot other than the media labeling us because it’s likely and AOB not denying he’d be happy to have him back in an interview?

Leo's situation was financial and it's pretty clear the club was in the wrong there and we paid the price, players should never be promised any position, should be dependent on their development and what's the best for the team.

As dumb as we are I am sure we never promise positions.
