This is absolutely a travesty if we lose him, we'd better have 2 - 3 props coming in to replace Dan(who we haven't covered) and Leo. Not to mention likely departures of either or both of Hetherington and Elliot.

We should have some cap release end of 2026 with Frizell, Gagai, Cogger, going, going GONE? and others such as Annan, Cant, DeCourcey, Gamble, Jones B, Manuleleua, Marzhew and ESL contracts ending, some might stay

I wouldn’t say they are all that often. He usually on average has one a game. I can’t remember the game last year. We were winning with about ten to go, and he tried a pass or late offload in our half, we lose the ball and the opposition scores and wins the game. I was so off him at that point.

Wouldn’t mind retaining Elliot but as a prop not a lock. If we are going with the thre amigos (Ponga, Sharpe and Brown) as hybrid halves next season we really need a scheming ball playing lock to stop the oppo defence just sliding out.

If we need that than Elliot I would say is the closest to that we have. Can’t or Frizz don’t have that in there games.

Well it seems like Cant is next inline as lock. That’s where he has been training. Could he develop a pass. Not so sure. In hindsight Kurt Mann is ideal for that role. Maybe Crossland? Swap him and Cant bench. Matty Aurther long minutes in hooker. Swaps out with Crossland.
 
We have signed a whole lot of young hopefuls, local juniors and others from outside but they don’t fix our need now.
The likes of Teague (this week 16 in Cup) and Sullivan, (8 in Flegg) might be ok in a season or two or longer but not now.
We have a real need now for a prop to take Leo’s place in 26 and a 7 that can play 1sts if Brown and Sharpe don’t work out, we don’t have a 7 that can become a starter in top grade, Hastings leaving, Cogger no good enough and Gamble really a 6 and currently our best 7.

We will not be able to afford a quality 7. Cogger is it. Yea we should spend on a good FG ready prop. Like Bullemore. We have pushed ourselves into a risky corner with KP, Sharpe and Brown. One of Sharpe or Brown need to be kicking. Ponga alternate on the left side kicker. Also Crossland or Aurthur to do the odd kick from dummy half.

Edit. Maybe Tarmrie Martin? Swap with Cogger 😂
 
Swap of players is Dreamtime stuff, has to be a case of both wanting and both clubs getting what the want, would Cogger want to leave for another club not of his choice, would that other player want to leave his club to come to Newcastle, all highly unlikely. We have Cogger under contract let’s hope they don’t extend.
As for hooker I don’t think Crossland is a consistent competitive 9, 14 yes, don’t think he has the brains or the ability for his position, big whole hearted trier but needs a clever spine around him to utilise his strengths, 100+% effort.
As for Arthur are we baby sitting for the Perth Bears
