2026 Recruitment And Retention

West Tigers:
Lachie Galvin will not be released early.

Also West Tigers:
Lachie Galvin has been dropped this week.
To be fair he did just knock back a million a yr for a kid who has played just over season. I wouldn't want to release him to better an opposition club unless it was a trade, which was mentioned last night in a Tiger poddy saying they'll entertain a swap with Cherry Evans.

I do get though, two sides of the coin and you have a duty of care to play players contracted to you, can't just banish him to CUP for two seasons.

Crazy situation.

Things are bad at the Tigers at present. I can’t see Galvin seeing out the year with the Tigers.
There's a universe where dominoes fall landing Galvin at the Eels and Brown to us this year. An unlikely outcome given the Tigers will want to appear strong by making him honour the contract (getting good value out of him) and will need something to justify getting him off the books.

I don't see it happening at all but it is within the realms of possibility.

Me neither but that's exactly how Isaac wants it.

Will probably be pushing for Galvin to be at another club at months end no doubt.

I have an idea, lets swap Hasting for Galvin....I mean seems as though tigers can't keep him around much longer :D

The senior Tigers players have blown up about Galvin saying he’s leaving 18 months before the end of his contract.

Tigers will apparently drop him this week. I can see the players union getting involved in this, much like Tapine with us. It could get very messy

I can’t see Galvin being at the Tigers after June 30 this year. I agree that there is a deal already in place. In my opinion, the deal will be similar to the one we gave Brown. He’ll get $1.2 mill a year guaranteed for a minimum of 6 years, max of 8 years

Galvin is a young Cherry-Evans.
All his plays don't come off yet, but they will start working more and more over time.
I'd take him over Brown.
He's not as good now, but he will be over the next 6 years for sure.

He's got some potential for sure but he's not going to develop much in the next 18 months unless the Tigers release him to a new club. No way they're going to have him in FG unless they need to or prioritise further developing him for another club.

Weird situation all round.

Gold coast Titans halfback Ryder Williams has been named in our Flegg side and still has a firstgrade profile on the Titans site.

Gray has gone to the bench, Sully Hoad is named at centre and Loza at 5/8 - so Flegg has 4 halfbacks in the side.

Cogger and Hastings are starting halves in reserves with Sutton on the bench.

So every halfback we can find gets a run this week.

Glad to see Sully Hoad back though wasn't expecting centre

Aiden is in an Arm brace so looks like he'll be out for an extended time.

Interested to see how this Ryder Williams goes. Keebra park Junior.

I believe Ryder Williams may have played against the Knights in the trial earlier in the year. Was on the Titans dev list apparently....
Why has Rory Whitby been dropped....Has been very good in a well beaten side any idea?. Will Cannavo next man up....

The Knights have done this with Hastings for what will be one and a half seasons, and Hastings is in better coin than Galvin atm.
It sounds like Galvin and Hastings are having similar difficulties with senior players not wanting to play with them.
Ah, the drama at NRL clubs is what feeds the dribble on NRL 360 and Fox generally
I guess it keeps some has beens gainfully employed.

Is Galvins case different, was he acceptable to all at Tigers until he pulled the pin, is this his agent Moses pulling the strings and the team/club taking the view of we prefer the Coach to the player where Hastings was more an antagonistic to all around him that became unworkable, me I haven’t got a clue and can’t understand it, could they both be going down the same road, one a few years earlier than the other yet it’s happening at same club, weird

It’s interesting to see how Ryder goes as halfback considering he is a five-eighth and even admitted that during the tweeds grand final win that, Zane did everything and that allowed him to play his natural game.

I hope it works since we need halfbacks but it doesn’t sound or look like he is used to calling the shots.

I'm not really backing the Coach of Flegg Alan Moore to make the right calls. He has a talented squad and chooses his son at 9 when Hoad is 10 times the player and has now brought in Will Cannavo over Rory Whitby who has been one of our best Forwards in lower grades. Absolutely mind blown by it.
