Will Pryce discussion

Hahaha just saw this in the other recruitment thread. I'm glad he has got himself a good long term contract. I also hope he gets good enough for a second nrl attempt afterwards.

Not leaving this year so his $$ is irrelevant

Good decision for both parties moving Will on. Despite being a popular player in the team he just wasn't a first grader imo.

A good athlete but had some very low IQ plays in him and defence was very poor at times.

Presume Fletcher Hunt gets a development spot now and one of the development players becomes a top 30 member?

Someone has leaked an image from Hull FC, looks like we (Hull) are putting together a highlights package for Pryce.

Was talk of us wanting him immediately but Newcastle want a fee. Can't imagine you'd want much to release him early.

We’ll just want enough to pay for the going away dinner. Very well-liked squad member who’s made a lot of mates down here.

They want enough money so they can afford to pay his flights out here to see the boys a couple of times a year.

Correct decision letting him go. Talented athlete but had far too many low IQ plays in him to succeed in the NRL. Also poor defender.

We could’ve definitely utilised him much better, but in saying that he wasn’t going to click overnight and he just wasn’t up to what we required of him.

Wish him all the best.

Hull are actually flying high in the Super League alongside their comrades across the city. Pressure will be on to carry on that form…..
Well he was good enough to be an ESL regular 2 years ago and he's a much better player now.
He's had a great pre-season and would never have been fitter.
I can't see why he wouldn't go OK over there this time.
They'll probably pick him for England.

He wasn’t exactly a regular. 45 games (12 off the bench) over 3 seasons with his first season being the most games he played.

There’s was lots of chat about him blitzing the fitness tests this off season but it didn’t do much to win him a place in the FG side.

He’s a highlight reel player but his game intelligence hasn’t really progressed during the last 18 months.

I totally disagree with that.
After his time in firstgrade and the time he has spent playing with Hastings in reserves his try assists have gone through the roof.
He isn't the next DCE, but he is an adequate playmaker in reserve grade and not a complete disaster in firstgrade.
His defence is the main area he doesn't seem to have improved much, and he'll probably never be an NRL level defender.

With Pryce I think everyone (us and some commentators) got ahead of ourselves about his attacking potential watching highlights in the ESL where the defensive structures are 100% different.

He’s got some nice attacking skills there for ESL but not enough to be able to shine in the NRL against a set defence, particularly not enough to make up for the defensive and footy IQ errors.

It probably highlights how desperate we were for some quality players back in 2022 that we offered him that much money. I’m ok with it though. We’re always going to be a club that needs to sign on potential. He didn’t work out. Seems like he was good for the environment at training, etc though. He’ll do much better in the ESL.

Pryce straight into the halves alongside Sezer in the Challenge Cup Hull derby starting shortly. Up against Mikey Lewis and May. I reckon it’s gonna be a tough afternoon for the former Knight.

Sounds like a fullback
