Recruitment And Retention Discussion

doesn't surprise me - a relative of mine knows her and says they whole family are big knights fans
He's already knocked back a big contract offer by the Warriors, he doesn't want to move away. But also wants to play fullback and hates Wing, so it's possible he may be tempted by the dogs offer. It's closer than NZ.

They will be doing opposed sessions Cogger V Hastings at training. Which ever halves they go with I think we are all in agreement that they need to stick with them for an extended period. Unless any of them have multiple shockers or injuries.

He’s 8 years younger than Ponga so he’s a big chance of playing fullback here.
I sadly suspect this might be KP’s last contract with us anyway and Votano will only be 20-21 by then.

He’s played all over the backline in the juniors and could easily see him playing centre when Gags retires or even being transitioned into a 6.

Assuming KP does move on as you've mentioned, and also that we retain a bunch of current juniors in the team up for extensions soon, we could see a Knights team in future littered with players that have come through our juniors ranks like:

1. Votano
2. Sharpe
3. Best
4. De Courcey
5. Latu
6. Linnane
7. Loza?
8. Sua
9. Arthur
10. JSaf
11. Lucas
12. McEwen
13. Hopwood
14. Crossy
15. Manuleleua
16. Bryan
17. Cant

Not sure how well that team goes TBF, but I'd love to see a competitive team of mostly Knights juniors.

Very strong in the outside backs and forwards on potential. Just like now the biggest question marks in the halves and hooker so hopefully they’re positions we can strengthen.

Contracts updated by NRL, it has Tyrone Thompson now development this year and top 30 for 2026, Connor Votano signed to end 2026. Siteni Taukamo Now development deal. Malachi not listed in development now

Could be wrong as they often are but they should be 100% accurate from the same place that signs off on all deals should be able to print out correct squads

Good that we have Tyrone for 26.
Hopefully he will develop and replace is twin.

I thought the narrative was that Jackson had got his head (and his meds) right, was over his ankle injury had made peace with his teammates and was keen to earn his way back.

At his best, he's the best 7 currently on our list and may be our best option until we can develop or buy our next franchise number 7. IDK if he can or will get back to his best but I hope so for the good of the club.
I’d be getting my head right and making peace too if I were him. Then earn a start, wind back the clock for the year and have a blinder if I wanted a decent contract with someone next year.

There is actually is a lot of pressure on him right now. It would be difficult to control mentally. I really hope he performs as there a quality player in him at his best.

Yeah, I was dirty at suggestions that Leo was going to the Dogs for the same or even less money than offered by the Knights. It turns out that's not true. I have no objection to Leo getting paid as long as it goes on the Dogs' cap.

Apparently, it's "Moneyball" to pay overs for a prop. lol
