Slots and Les Mis pleasuring themselves right now.
Tbf if this is how we play when it matters I'm happy.

It's a week 1 bow out but we were capable of winning that. Coach had them playing at their peak and the game strategy is hard to knock. Considering we're playing with average halves, and missing JSaf and Best, AOB deserves praise.

Would be nice if he could get them up during the regular season tho so that we could get a home final at the very least

For sure. Also their fullback is Scott Drinkwater. Just run right at him then slightly change direction. Try.
He’s actually one player who should be more selfish. I normally hate ball hogs but I think he needs to be more selfish. Often he’s already through but he still looks for the pass.

Not sure he realises how good he is as a runner because he never has anyone create for him. I think he’s so used to being the creator, he forgets he can just finish things himself.

I sometimes wonder how much of it is him just being gassed - both the not keeping it, and the slightly off execution of the last pass. Post his bulk-up, I wonder if he manages his energy for the initial burst (the line break from nowhere), but doesn't feel like he has it in him to do another 30-40 meters at top pace.

The kick-return line breaks are a similar example - we all rightly complain that nobody is pushing in support, but it's also clear once he breaks the line that he isn't outrunning the opposition over 80m.

I’m absolutely gutted. Think next year our best spine is Ponga gamble cogger Crossland. This offseason will be about figuring out how to score points. Dsaf wasn’t great tonight, but we won’t miss him that much, Friz has to move to prop and we’ll find cover at second row. Tonight will hurt for a long time, can’t imagine how the players feel but bring on 2025.
Yes we may have to into next year with a spine of KP, Gamble, Cogger snd Crossland. That would be OK (not ideal) and we can blood our younger halves when they are ready.

Agreed. Well put.

Yeah, I believe Sharpe could definitely long term be a half, but looking at what we’ve got right now those four are our best first grade Spine. Hope we don’t chop and change as much next year.

I want KNIGHTS VS COWBOYS RD 1 NEXT YEAR AT A SOLD OUT HOSTILE AS **** MCDONALD JONES STADIUM :)

Don’t forget the blatant forward passes and knock on he just didn’t see. C***
Smith is incompetent. He may be the worst ref in the comp.

Leaving bias out of it: we were not being penalised when we were clearly intentionally infringing in some way to try to get back control of the ruck, and then when we would get pinged most of the time it was for nothing. A “holding down” penalty after a tackle where Leo smashed a guy, knocked them on their back, and took more than a half second to get off - why? The dude just has no idea and no feel for the game at all.

Putting bias back into it: Not getting a single set restart is laughable. There was one particular second effort on Greg where I almost threw my beer at the TV when we didn’t get anything for it.

He was trying to ref the flowing style game with little ref involvement. He was yelling for players to get off the instant they hit the ground, and missed several times where players were not tackles and tried to get up and run but he called tackled. KP was one obvious one where the tackler bounced straight over him and KP was free to run, but no, called back. There were a few others.

Ref was letting us get away with murder in the ruck to be fair.

But in the end, the refs actions let the game be decided by the players and thats what I prefer.

My mate thinks i'm being biased and being a hater saying we need to get rid of Dsaf and that his defence is terrible. He's good for a couple unforgiveable defensive efforts every game. Tonight was no different and it was very costly for us. I'm correct right?
Just in case the Dolphins recruiters are lurking in this thread: Nooooo, absolutely not, you’re being crazy. He’s a defensive powerhouse and the last piece of the puzzle up in Redcliffe. The smart thing to do would be to engineer a player swap, him for Isaiya Katoa.
