Toohey's News

Doueihi almost got picked for Origin a few years ago. He was legitimately going great. I don’t blame you for not watching Tigers games.

I wouldn’t sign either, to be clear, but if we’re looking at spending cap space on guys who may never take the field for us, I would prefer to take a punt on Adam over Josh.

I'd take the punt if he wanted to play in the forwards I think with his ball playing he would be a great 13 . Just not sure he is willing to do the tuff stuff

Other news in the article this morning.

SG Ball winger Sosasia Latu has been signed for 4 years till the end of 2028 and prop Cody Hopwood is close to signing till the end of 2027.

Knights have bought land and are building a multi bedroom building for $4mill to house junior recruits. My guess would be that will be in the new high density zone within 400 metres of Broadmeadow station, so an easy walk to training.

Knights could lose a home game next year for magic round.

Hard, hard pass on both. Neither player is needed to boost our squad and neither player has been on the field enough to justify themselves as first grade footballers.

I'm glad they signed Latu. I was beginning to think he's one of those guys I think is outstanding, and no one else sees it.

Same here. He started the season looking like just a winger who finished well, then last 4-5 games was breaking tackles at will from hit ups. scored a couple of awesome individual tries almost length of field in the Finals too. Great to see recruitment got their eyes on. Awesome about Hopwood as well, kid really could be a superstar.

I said I thought Latu was the best on-field in the final vs Steelers. Looks to be a very good athlete but most impressive thing to me was his yardage game and work rate, there were sets where he took 2 runs and probably tried to put his hand up for a 3rd.

4-year deal is obviously a sign they rate him extremely highly.

16/5
Josh Schuster has been offered to the club at around 350k a season - less then half his previous 800k.
Knights are weighing up the pros and cons.

Minimum wage for this year and next if he wants a start, otherwise a hard pass, he isn't a half and we are spoilt for backrowers for mine.

Yeah, was.

As for Schuster he is Dave Taylor 2.0. Think's he's a half, fat, never wants to do the hard stuff. Career will end the same way, kicking around in the super league.

The fact Manly is willing to cop $200k each year on the cap for the next 3 years says it all lol.

By "no one sees it" I meant there was no sign till now that the coaching and recruiting staff had him in their plans.

I don’t get to watch barely any lower grade stuff but on looking at some of his highlights it’s exciting for the future. Do you know who his centre is? Seems to have a great read of the game too 🤔

Logan Aoake is who you probably mean.
He's come through our grades and played most positions in the backline from 1 to 5.
1 of the Aoake brothers played in the halves a bit, but I can't remember which one.

Disagree Josh is way more talented than Adam.

I agree, he's a good pick-up for that price. If it doesn't work out then no great loss. Understandable he's struggled at Manly after what happened, and I've heard that it's been amicable on both sides and more about looking after him than any bad blood between them.
350k in the new cap is like 250k in the old cap. It’s worth the punt for a season and a half.
