It’s a hard one to put into words that one. Right from the start, I’ve always found him to be a bit grubby and a bit full of himself. There’s probably 20 others out there that are the same but it’s him that grinds my gears.
A bit like Paul Gallen for example. I can’t properly explain why I can’t stand that guy, but I grit my teeth every time I see his mug on tv. I’d have given up on the Knights if he’d signed up too.
It’s just one of those things where some people rub you the wrong way I guess, but the Fox does a mighty fine job of it
 
For my money guys like Fox, who play with a lot of swagger, make the game more entertaining. And at the end of the day these guys play a dangerous sport for a living where you have to be confident just to go out there. If my lawyer carried on like him I’d hire someone else, but I like it in a footy player.

Also he’s a guy who makes winning plays on both sides of the ball (people will raise their eyebrows at this but he might be the best winger defensively since Brett Morris retired) & has won everything there is to win in the sport. You’re allowed to be cocky if you’ve proven you’re great.

Right there with anyone on GaLLen hate though, and it’s not even to do with the arrogance. I’ve never seen a player with as much ability as him to genuinely influence a game, who’s made worse use of that ability. If he built his game around tough yardage carries, tackling everything that moves and unselfishness when his side was on the attack, he’d be as good as boneheaded Cronulla fans think he is. Instead he built his game around easier stat-padding runs, fifth tackle hit ups, dumb penalties and overcalling his halves. Only at the end of his career under Flanagan did he rein himself in just enough to finally win something.

Article today by Max McKinney that goes into KPP in depth.
Says he was born in London and came through the London Broncos system and moved to Wigan as a teenager.
Says he is of West Indian extraction but not Jamacian.
Says he is 22 and has played 4 years of ESL for Wigan since he was 18 and says Wigan was "the best thing to ever happen for him".
Says he has been approached by Melbourne and Gould to move to Aus for years, but Dom Young "sold him a dream" about Newcastle. It sounds like Dom sold him on the coaching and training facilities as well as the lifestyle.
Compares him to Sonny-Bill, which KPP says is flattering and he tries to offload like SBW, who he describes as the king of offloads, but also says he is his own player and wants to forge his own way.
Pryce is only mentioned in passing, basically saying he is 20 and has moved out of home for the first time.

The overall tone of the article is that KPP is a rare talent and has taken his opportunities to improve himself by moving from London to Wigan, and now to the Knights where he hopes to follow the path of Dom and go to new levels.

Saturday League page is mostly covered by an article about Luke Brooks starting at Manly.
It also has the second half of an article by Max McKinney that starts on the back page that says women's SOO will expand to 3 games and Newcastle is firming to host a game. It has quotes from the mayor of Newcastle. It also quotes Ron Griffiths as saying the game would be a sellout and both sides would have many current and former Knights.
Also a small article saying our opening game is set for Thursday because a motorcross event is due be held at the ground on the Saturday.
Another small article about Connor Watson extending his contract at the Roosters.

Article on the League page today is about Dylan Lucas.
Says he sees himself as a second row now and wants to make left second row his aim this year.
Says he only did a "few reps" at second row last pre-season and mostly trained at centre, but he looks forward to concentrating on second row from now on.
Says he has strong competition for the spot from KPP, Jed Cartwright, Brodie Jones and Matt Croker.
The article says he spent his off season in his home town of Albion Park, so wouldn't have been one of those training at the centre, but came back to join the young group training, so got a 3 week start on the main group.

Hoping Lucas gets plenty of reps outside Hastings this off season to replicate the understanding Fitz and Jackson developed last season. That short pass / offload was a great play to counter the outside-in defence teams played to take away space from KP, Best and Marzhew.

Yeah as I have said Baz has kept going after finishing up at the Herald to try & keep us tragics informed & entertained . Copped a bit of flack on here at times . As far as I'm concerned he has gone above & beyond . Look forward to the Saturday column for at least another year & wish him a long & happy retirement
