2023 Internationals

Fiji 19 - 4 PNG at halftime.
Donoghue having a very good game - 2 tries so far.
Nagz hasn't got a run yet.

43 - 16 win to Fiji
Nagz got the last 26 minutes and looked OK, but he looks really out of shape - even more than he usually does - and he always looks a bit chubby.

PNG out of their league vs Fiji. Would love to see more respect for Fiji, they are just as competitive against the big three as Tonga and Samoa are, but get nowhere near the same opportunities to play them.

It's a very understrength Fiji side with 12 under 21 I think they said in the commentary. Kurt Donoughoe has not played in the halves since Flegg for the Knights in 2022 and only got short minutes at hooker for the dolphins. I thought he outplayed Lam and Laybutt.

The commentators seemed to think PNG were clear favourites and Thurston was still saying PNG had the best spine right till the end of the game, despite their spine being clearly outplayed.

Having seen the lacklustre performance Fiji put in last week V Cook Islands I thought they were going to get pumped, but they outplayed PNG across the park.

Actually reminding myself of PNG’s results at the World Cup last year they weren’t bad, so it is a surprising scoreline.

But Fiji are definitely very underrated in world rugby league.

One of the interesting moments in the Fiji game was when Andrew Johns and Brad Fittler decided that Nagz got an "accidental" try assist.
Nagz sold it to everyone on the field, in the stands, and back in the studio (Johns and Fittler) that he wasn't going to pass to the lead runner and was going to do a long pass behind him, and then the lead runner crashed over for a try from a perfect short pass right on the line.
I've watched Nagz enough to know he 100% played the defenders and that pass fooled everyone, including Johns and Fittler, who still think he threw a lucky bad pass that went to the wrong guy.

Georgia Roche is playing halfback for England.
Not sure if she's played halfback for them before, but it will be interesting to see how well she leads a side now that she has NRLW experience.

Final almost underway, not too confident the Kiwis can get it done, but maybe there'll be a miracle.

Dreadful crowd ... no idea why this was played in Hamilton. Give it to a major centre.

Silly error by Thompson when the Kiwis were well on top. Don't let Munster bait you ...
