Marathon Stadium Awards 2023!

I didn't vote on a big hit but I was trying to remember Thompson did put on a big hit I recalled, but he put on several through the year.

Yeah there was a vote for another of his, don't remember exactly what it was though.

We've been going 90 minutes so I better wrap up haha.

For the Men's Game of the Year, we had quite a few options. The 66-0 thumping of the Bulldogs that kick-started our season got 1 vote. The Round 26 win over Cronulla that sealed our spot in the finals got 3 votes. The round 21 arm wrestle win over Melbourne picked up 4 votes. But in top spot with 8 votes was our first home final since 2006 - this one had it all!

Game of the Year: Finals Week 1 vs Canberra Raiders

It's a game, and event I am going to cherish for a long long time. Absolutely brilliant atmosphere. Scenes I can't recall seeing up there in the past, and I've been going there since the beginning.
Just watched the highlights and it brought it all back! Think I'd blocked things from my mind after the loss to finish the season, but that game was amazing.

For our Women's best game, we had 1 vote for Parker's last minute try and Jesse Southwell's sideline conversion against the Broncos in round 5, and also 1 vote for our semi final win over Brisbane. Our Round 8 thumping of the Roosters was popular with many with 4 votes. But how could it not be our big day where we sealed back to back titles, thanks to some Upton magic:

Game of the Year: Grand Final vs Gold Coast Titans

And we're down to our final two awards, the 2023 Marathon Stadium Players of the Year. There's probably not going to be any huge shocks here, considering we had both Dally M winners!

Both winners will take home a solid gold Marathon Stadium victor's crown, hand crafted by a team of devout Buddhist monks, in the peaks of Tibet. While the exact value of the crowns is not known, it's estimated to be over $75 million each.

I'll just grab it out of the bottom drawer ... oh ffs, dropped it. Ahh well, that'll buff right out.

I've added all the winners to our Hall of Fame here, you can see past season's winners and a summary of this year's awards: https://marathonstadium.com/threads/the-marathon-stadium-hall-of-fame.11152/

It's nice to get the awards back up and running again. Looking back with a bit of hindsight, 2023 was an absolutely amazing year for the club!

Thank you to everyone who voted, it was a really good response and I think the awards went to very deserving winners. It was great to include the women's team this year and I'm always super impressed with how people embrace our NRLW side and the knowledge you all display.

Also thanks to everyone who voted in the MSKOTW every week which decided our overall player of the year winners. It's great the response we get to that and I think the winners have been more on point than the official club awards over the years.

And a final extra big shout out to @Lefty and @Billy who create the threads and keep track of the scores for MSKOTW every week during the season, huge effort!

We should return the votes for next years MSKOTW to 3-2-1 to fit in with the end of year awards.
