2024 Recruitment and Retention Thread - Rebuild 2: This Time It’ll Work For Sure (Unironically)

Dribble. But I would also like to see him and Jsaf resigned before Nov 1st. Is Leo Thompson up around Nov 1 too? Can’t remember.

I'm not sure I love the idea of Noah Nailagoliva playing a test match against PNG in PNG.
He has missed so many games through injury over the last few years, and this year looks like a great chance to do a firstgrade pre-season fully fit for the first time.
On the other hand, if he gets through the game and plays well, it could launch his career.

May as well update this then:

I suspect Ryan Rivett is gone, but I can't find anything to say that.
He isn't listed as with us on NRL,com anymore.

Rivett only played 7 games of reserve grade and only 1 since round 12. He had average fantasy points of 21.
Liam Sutton has an almost identical skillset. He has played 12 games of reserve grade including the last 6 in a row with average fantasy points of 45.5. He was also training with firstgrade towards the end of the season.

He has won 3 premierships,
Why not chase the money now?
While he still can.

His not exactly on crap $, at Panthers he will still end up on around $800k per year, is a 30% bump in pay worth being miserable? Being a 1 club player post footy will surely help as well, you'd assume Panthers would assist him post footy.

You could have said all these things for Koroisau and Crichton, didn’t stop them taking off to shambolic clubs for the money. And countless others over the years of course. I’m sure Luai will be on his way if they don’t give him a big deal. From the Panthers’ cap POV, bringing back Cogger is probably the best move.

Real estate $ goes a lot further out at Penrith than the inner city .

Penrith have already have Brad Schneider for next year who’ll probably look just as competent as Cogger did slotting in, doubt they’ll come asking for him back

I’d put Koroisau as a bit of a special case, he’s getting up there now and I think the Tigers deal is the first ever truly big payday in his career.

But yeah if I was advising Luai, I’d tell him to stay in Penrith. Yeah he could probably get close to a million or maybe more elsewhere, but then after that first contract when he proves to not be not worth that even if you put him in a jersey made out of Berkshire Hathaway stock certificates, he’d never get anything like that kind of money again. Whereas he’ll be well compensated at Penrith and he’ll also never tank his value, because he plays for Penrith.

We have signed Cogger for 3 years, so we have to let go for the Panthers to sign him before 2027.
