HAHA I just checked official stats and I was so wrong. My bad, seemed like forever between wins
Usually I wouldn't even have taken it in given the state of the game, but I definitely remember all those errors and penalties he gave away in the final ten. 😅

Thought the expectation and the occasion got to the players a bit today. To overcome the hole we were in at halftime though was so courageous and I’m a proud Knights fan tonight. Think Hastings ruled out, short turn around off the back off 90 minutes will actually help us. We sre so expansive with the footy, but think when there were a few nerves today that led to errors.

I also think if Gagai had grounded that try in the first half we would’ve gassed the Raiders from there but instead they went up the other end and scored. Can’t wait for next Saturday up the Knights.

Im just back in from the game.

Holy cow what a game of footy to be at. Outside of the 2 GF wins, I'd rank that game as 3rd in my favourite Knights games to have attended.

The crowd was like a cauldron. Without doubt the loudest Newcastle chants I've heard, the whole stadium as one, and frequent.

Not sure if you picked it up on the Telly but after the Wighton bite, he was copping it, there was several Wighton's a Wayne Ker booming out.

Best atmosphere I have ever been at a Knights home game.

As for the game itself. I thought we played them in to the game with our errors, and gifted tries. They played well and no mistake footy, churned over their sets and we didn't so they were given too many chances at us. Can't afford to do that. Half time I was worried.

But after half time I thought were were in control until they leveled, then I was on the edge of my seat. My throat is hoarse.

That bite! How a player can bite another player, clearly leaving visible marks on the skin, and stay on the field is far beyond me. I can only rationalise it by the thinking the ref didn't want to spoil the finals game with a send off. But that was a send off. I'm stupified, and we didn't even get a penalty, though Wighton was put on report. A disgrace!

But the right team got the result, on to the Warriors now and I'm sure we can get them.

Hastings injury, any more news? Gamble also injured but finished the game, and one of the safs seems to tweak a hammy. Any others?

Newcastle, Newcastle, Newcastle. I could live in that game forever.
Yeh it’s got me buggered how he wasn’t at least binned. Couldn’t believe we didn’t even get a penalty. You could see the bite mark clearly. That ******** chant that went up after was so loud. Probably half the reason I have no voice

I really did think we were gone in that game at halftime, and particularly when Hastings didn’t come back out. It took a lot of grit and determination to come back from that, and then hold on and somehow get the win in extra time.

Yes we made a lot of errors … but that can happen in finals football. Canberra put us under huge pressure. I think after being bundled out in the first week twice under AOB, today will be an invaluable experience. This side hasn’t won a finals match before, and now we know what it takes to get across the line.

In saying that, next week will be a huge challenge, and we really need to up our game. I think going to NZ in front of an equally rabid home crowd as we saw today, and getting a win, would be an absolutely immense result. It’s almost our grand final for 2023.

But overall I’m stoked with today. It’s taken a decade but we are back in the final’s winner’s circle!!! We did it with some class, and some determination, and with quite a bit of adversity … and that’s how you win finals.

Just watched the presser. Gamble fine for next week, no mention on any issues other than Jackson. Clune to come in. Lots of rest and time to be spent getting them right physically and mentally.
I’m sure I also heard Ponga say that Klein said “he couldn’t see anything” when he was challenged about the bite allegations by Wighton on the field…WTF??!!!

If that’s his statement, then I am highlighting that he has no place being an NRL referee…,either because he is a lying POS or he should never be allowed to ref again because clearly his eyesight is gone - he must be legally blind?! I could not only see the imprinted bite marks on Gamble’s wrist, you could still clearly see the saliva around the bite marks at least 1 1/2 to 2 minutes after the incident

Agree totally...Klein is probably the worst ref in the NRL and obviously blind if he couldn't see the bite.

Wighton will probably get suspended for a few weeks.

It was obvious that Gamble had been bitten, At the very least should have got a penalty. It was inexplicable that no action was taken against Wighton apart from putting him on report.

I don’t think it’s even the on-field ref’s choice once it goes the to bunker, is it? Pretty sure the bunker makes all calls on send offs and sun bins, the ref seems to have no say in these things anymore. The whole reffing system is totally messed up imo.

The bunker reviews it for something obvious, but how did Klein not see a physical bite mark is beyond me. We could see it on TV and he was literally standing infront of Gamble.

I would have thought Klein could say to the bunker yes I can see bite marks, can you review. But you are right the whole reffing system is messed.
