My response is not bait at all.

Providing facts and numbers to the response of people bringing up Townsend in contrast to Hastings and Brooks.

If factual figures is bait then you’re an easy catch.

Don’t know, that’s something you’ll have to ask the Sharks admin. For the record I never stated he is a gun and played so well in 2021, just provided factual numbers which may be interpreted as bait on here.
 
The thing I don't like about this whole Hastings/Brooks thing is it seems a bit too desperate i.e. I want a halfback. Doesn't matter which one. First in best dressed. Not "who is the best half for the knights for the next 5 years".

Stick with Clune until we are certain on a half we want long term imo.

For the record. I never said Hastings was better than Townsend. So there was probably no need go digging in the nrl archives for your factual numbers.

Never said you did, though they were for old mate claiming the wins while Hastings was wearing the 7 while overlooking his has partner in 2 of those games was Brooks so numbers were added for context.

Seeing as though he who shall not be named was also brought up in this thread thought it’d be good to see his in comparison as well. Hope that clears everything up.
 
Cowboyman is here to tear us down! Vast majority of his posts are negative towards the Knights and what we are doing at the club.

I blocked him a long time back, but unfortunately still get those Show Ignored Content options which I'd rather not see.

This is a Knights forum yet somehow plenty of threads turn in to a cowboyman cowboys back and forth! I'm over it tbh.

Yeah the issue with ignoring someone is you still see people quote replying them so it doesn’t actually block them from your view. You kind of need everyone else to ignore as well if you want to not see their nonsense.
 
Everyone is complaining about not having a good dominant halfback, the club tried to get Brooks, but the Tigers eventually put an end to that ..
So we still need a half back could Gamble do the job, who knows.
Crossland maybe but probably not, Clune not good enough or at least not consistent enough.
Mann imo a better player than most think but definitely not a halfback.
So who at the Moment is a better buy than Hastings...
If Gamble doesn't work out could we buy a half for 2024 and move Hastings to 5/8.
I also think the club had to let Pearce go , a guy who isn't playing to the standard he should who also said his body wasn't up to it anymore in the NRL and who's life here had just turned to ****e.
He didn't want to be here (at the Knights or Newy) anymore , imo you don't want a person in that frame of mind playing for you anyway.

Agreed, although perhaps it's worth the gamble given HB is a massive need for us and Klem is on big money. Is Klem at his price worth more to us than Hastings at ~$500K? I don't know. But I can see the reasoning behind why both clubs would be looking to upgrade in positions of need.

Just doesn’t make sense to me. Klemmer earns his contract on a consistent basis while other forwards are under performing on their contract.

Sure you need a half and there isn’t any good options available this off season but to use your best and consistent forward in trying to secure one doesn’t help that incoming half when he does get here and you struggle to get field position for him anyway.

Yep, although we have to try something 😆 There's just not much going at the moment in terms of halves. Based on this year, Klem was our best forward IMO, but it's just not as high a need right now. If Tiges chip in a bit of the contract as well, it's not too bad an outcome.
 
Klemmer is signed until the end of 2023. Speculation all over the place that he wants out.

Here, we have a chance to sweeten a deal to get Hastings, a player in a position we are desperate for. What are we giving up to hopefully grease the wheels with the Tigers? A player that apparently doens't want to be here and would leave if given the chance, and at the end of next year likely will.

I can see it now, we say no we are keeping Klem, they keep Hastings and a month later Klem signs with the Tigers anyway for 2024 and beyond and then CBM is saying why didn't we let him go when it had some value to us? Hastings signs with the Dolphins and we are left without a half again and another year of "We haven't replaced Pearce"!

His posts are nothing but short sighted drivel aimed at stirring the pot here!

This is such a key point I think some are missing. Hastings will be 27 when next season kicks off, and plays a position where you commonly see players stay good until they're 33 and sometimes even older - and it's also pretty common for players in that position to actually reach the peak of their powers in their 30's. Klemmer will be 29 and plays a position where it's very rare for guys to stay good past the age of 31-32 (and if you don't think he's already greatly diminished from the force he was about 5-8 years ago I don't know what to tell you). Klemmer is a declining asset and I strongly suspect any deal with Wests would involve us paying freight on Klemmer & paying Hastings' full contract - and I still think we're making out like bandits in this scenario.

Hastings wouldn't be being looked at a short-term, late career rental. Assuming things go okay relationships-wise, the club would expect to get at least 6 years out of him and possibly even longer given 2/3rds of his footy has been played at lower intensity in a much less physical league. If we pick him up, he's our long-term 7.

You missed off after Klemmer signs with the Tigers for 2024 we decide to give him an early release for 2023 and end up with nothing lol.

Speculation he wants out because the power of the minds at Newcastle (who everyone on here criticises where it’s ok until I do) don’t want to give him an multi year contract extension if rumours are to be believed. Easy solution is to offer your best forward a contract extension not ship him out.

Relying on forwards that have never shown to be consistent throughout the whole season isn’t exactly the smartest decision going forward in my opinion.

Of course it would be a totally different view if the Safs were able to string 10 games together let alone a season.
