NEWCASTLE KNIGHTS V SOUTH SYDNEY 7.55 PM Fri 8th July - MJS Newcastle

AOB should've got Brailey on in the first half when we started falling apart about 20 mins in and Randall was the cause of it. And yet, AOB persists with his preconceived plan of only playing Brailey for 30 mins in the second half, despite the emergency on field that required Brailey to be injected in the first half

He has shown in the past, in particular that sharks game, where he has a preconceived game plan and will not adjust accordingly.

I can't sit through the coach droning on through the presser with the usual 17 excuses, can someone who has already put themselves through that pain provide a summary?

I haven't seen it either. But it will be we did some things good out there and some things we need to be better at. I thought we were in the game at half time but just didn't show the intention we needed to. Too many errors, coming out of our end we make an error and they score. Can't afford to do that in the NRL. Will be asked about Dom Young and will say he is real happy with him, his effort. Will be asked about the Klem send off and will say it was at the end and he didn't get a good look at it, will have to have a good look at it later.

O'Brien said they tried to continue what they did against the Titans without doing the hard work first. He said that Klem "cares too much", but didn't seem unhappy with him for it.

Honestly thought he was pretty accurate about where we went wrong. Soft through the middle, edge defenders hung out to dry by poor work from some guys further in, inability to roll with the punches when things went against us.

What’s concerning is he talked about a lot of our players being a bit complacent and expecting an easy night. I’m sorry, what? We were 5-10 with dwindling finals hopes on the line against a team comfortably above us on the ladder and we’re resting on our laurels? What the ****? How after all these years is it still an issue? And even if the players were right and they were playing a weak, beatable opponent, still no excuse to show up with a slack mindset expecting to be handed a win. If anything with our for and against they should be chomping at the bit to really rack up a a score and start to fix it.

Without checking any post game comments, I really enjoyed that game.
Yeah we fell apart as the rabbits hit hard @ the end of the first half - but we kept fighting, that's the pleasing part.
Bloody hell I enjoyed that game, didn't think we had a chance but put in a really good effort.
It felt like it was on a knife's edge at many points in the game.
We worked hard to compete, looked a threat everytime we were in their end. We need to keep that up when Ponga comes back.
We lacked meters for much of the first half but only got good meters when they were snagged near the end of the game.
And my 2 cents is; yes Klem got him in the head with a bit of an elbow, dumb move though I love his intensity. BUT Latrel, in an aggressive move to throw off a player landed full elbow on the head of Saulo and KO'd him. Ref's eyes clouded from the preceeding incident.

I'd play Barnett 13. Fitz in. Randall 14

Mann, Cessnock
Mann 14 for Cessnock with Tex hoy 18th man.

1. Hodgeson
6. Ponga
7. Clifford
9. Brailey
14. Mapapalangi

That's how I reckon we should line up next year. I reckon dolphins will get Milford. He's been decent for us, but not worth getting in a bidding war over.

Now that there's no chance of finals Obi really needs to put Ponga in the halves for the rest of the season.

Like im the only one James.

Everyone tonight is saying how its going to be years, I might just say it a bit more often...

Still hopeful of a win

Funny how my posts annoy you more than our crap team lol
I don’t mind those posters at all, they actually make points that are interesting and can be discussed.

Yours are just a rotation of: we suck, we’re the worst team, this player sucks, our coach should be sacked, worst team in the NRL, I told you we’d win the spoon

And you do it every two minutes! It’s so boring and annoying to read!!!

Try adding some actual points, observations and insight to your posts to make them interesting, someone might actually reply to you with something other than “please stop posting”

If you go with Milford long term you are going to buy some defensive frailties that really need to be managed. Not saying it can't be done, but that's what you are getting.

The knights run the same plays every set with the same players and still make it look difficult. Its a training gallop defending us. 1. Tex: did some ok things but got in the way or skipped too far sideways.
2. Eddy: was his usual self, got involved when needed and competed for the high ball more often then not, got a bit lazy toward the end.
3. Tuala: yuck, bad defensive reads and gets monstered in attack.
4. Braddy: very quiet, used as a battering ram all game, bit short of a run I guess.
5. Dom young: massive ceiling, missed his efforts when went off for hia.
6. Milf: nobody is on the same page as him in attack still but defensively is pretty bad.
7. Clune: he tried his guts out but just never applied any pressure, seemed to pass to Milford all game.
8. Klem: absolute robotic and passionate, does his job every week, he wants success and needs others to step up and help
9. Randall: Got tired from tackling and lacked any finess from dummy half
10. Dsaf: finding his front a lot more with good leg speed, ruck was a bit quick for him last night, obviously fitness is lacking a little from his layoff.
11. Frizz: bloke tried hard but such a one dimensional player, hasn't really adapted to the new rules.
12. Barny: Runs prop lines and gets belted around the head a lot, was a little shy after that early knock, should be lock.
13. Mann: Clearly still injured, shouldn't of played, Kurt Mann fully fit is only just good enough so Kurt Mann injured is terrible.
14. Brailz: such a relief to see him out there, his passing was sharp but clearly not much continuity between him and spine players yet.
16. Leo: there's a player in there we need to unlock, id give him a run at lock or even second row. Just bashed him around all night.
17. Crokes: silly pass for the intercept, didn't really notice him too much before or after that.
19. Saulo: his best game for us so far, good impact, found his front, just needed a pass for a try.

Out of all this I wanted to see more angled runs in and around South's ruck but we kept a 2 pass spread to a flat footed runner who got smashed. Our backline set play was the usual out the back X2 or 1 with a short pass. We have NO variety other then that. That many times nobody at home at fullback coz trell was being lazy and no chip nothing. It upset me I left early but watching that tatola try did me in.

The other key change I think we need and hopefully we are working towards for next year is Sasagi at 13 fulltime. For those lamenting our clunky ball movement, I reckon it improves ten fold when Simi has been introduced, and a lot of tries in reggies lately have come through him being first receiver. Like Milford above, he has some defensive frailties which need to be ironed out, but they don't come through lack of effort. Someone with his physique can have those frailties coached out of him.

SIMI FOR 13!!!
