Pearce lines up for the Dragons in the super league season kickoff 10/02.

Rematch of last years GF.
 
I was talking to a close relo of Mitchell Pearce last week, he said Mitchell’s relationship break-up was the only reason why he left the Knights.
 
Just watched the Dragons Vs Saints.

Spoliers.

Pearce turned in his usual pedestrian performance. Pre-game I had to lauch when the commentators said Pearce has one of the best kicking games ever lol. Pretty much a passenger the whole game, hardly involved at all. Dragons fans will be wondering what they have bought to replace Maloney.
 
I saw the pre game interview with Saint Helens coach Kristian Woolf and he talked up Pearce bigtime.
The aftergame interview with Catalans coach McNamara was pretty different. He sounded like he'd drop Pearce to reserves if he could.

Yeah I mean reading between the lines, definitely seemed like the main thing to me. The bloke set his entire life & future on fire, and still would have had to face all these mutual friends of him and his missus every day. Plenty of blokes foolishly put themselves in a similar position, the difference is that they can’t just **** off to a different country and do the same job there instead - but they would if they could.

There was a huge amount of pressure on the family because of all the media attention.
 
I'd forgotten that Grant Anderson went to Melbourne.
He looks strong enough for firstgrade now.
I think he was our player of the year when we won the minor premiership in Flegg with guys like Hoy, To'a, Croker, Momoisea etc.
 
I feel for the Warriors fans, they deserve a coach who knows what he's doing and has an outside chance of getting the team firing.

Might be a good chance for a fresh start next year though, when surely they will be able to play their games at home as normal (I think they have four scheduled in Auckland for this season).
 
Looks like Jock Maden gets his chance in firsts for the next 3 weeks.
Unfortunately for him it's in an underperforming Tigers team and he has to partner Brooks
