TRIAL 1 - NEWCASTLE KNIGHTS V CANTERBURY BULLBOGS 21/2/2022

Result doesn’t matter, all I’m really looking for is repeatable attacking actions which look like they can consistently produce points in live games.

More ball movement including both centres touching the ball from spreads regularly at both ends of the field.

Really keen to see how the young guys go in the second half, hopefully we unearth some talent.
Yeah that's all for me really. First half, all the top guys have a hit out, be competitive, a drubbing would be a bit concerning. Second half will be cool to watch all our young guys have a run on a bigger stage, hopefully like you said we unearth some talent with a couple boys putting their hands up.

The young guy most likely to shine is Dylan Lucas.
I get the feeling he's trained the house down, and he showed last year in reserve grade in multiple positions that he has plenty to offer.
The biggest question mark is over Kobe Rugless. He is about our 3rd choice hooker as a 20 year old plucked out of Flegg, so he must have something to offer.

It doesn't seem like Mitch Black is at the club anymore, or out of favour, so this Rugless kid could play a bigger part this year than we realize. Will have to keep an eye on him, the next specialist hooker we have behind Randall until Brailey comes back.

We have heard zero about the Flegg squad this year. Mitch Black could be training with Flegg.

I think if Randall gets hurt (and he seems to be a bit unlucky in that regard) you'd see Mann or Crossland playing hooker

Does Jirah starting in the back row foreshadow that he's is changing position or is this just a reward for a good off season? I suggested at the end of the season he looked like he could make for a kikau type backrower.
Taking into consideration all accounts on his athleticism, the idea of the GOAT showing Jirah how to find holes, I think he could be unstoppable close to the line.

Momoisea was training to become a second-rower prior to his big injury. When he returned they probably just eased him back in to what he knows which is prop. Clearly is a plan to shift him out wide, they must think he has the right physique and athleticism to excel there.

I would say a reward for his pre season training form combined with the fact Barnett isn’t playing. I am interested to see his impact out wider and what kind of ball playing he might have up his sleeve.

Oweysdaughter and myself are going over for reggies. I hope there is a team list to go off, hard to work out who's who otherwise. Billy, can you help?

I'm looking for a team list on twitter but no luck so far. They usually put them up an hour before the game if they are going to.

Hopefully he rips that edge apart and we go into round 1 with.

8. Daniel Saifiti
9. Chris Randell
10. David Klemmer
11. Jirah Momoisea
12. Tyson Frizell
13. Mitch Barnett

Wishful thinking, without mann, but what a pack.
