The problem with Milf at Broncos is he was expected to lead the team around the park, if Clifford takes the bulk of that on and Milford just runs the ball he could do alright.

Could be a stop gap, Brooks is off contract and available 2023 if I'm not mistaken...maybe the club is waiting on him.

I would rather us go with Clifford and Clune as our halves rather than Milford.....

There's a couple of guys in our squad who have actually represented Australia (and a fair few that have more than Milford's total 2 (two!) origin appearances) that probably have something to say about that.

If Milford is our best player in 2022, we're headed for disaster.
 
So dolphins want Milford but isn't that based on if he plays first grade this year, I heard or read that somewhere.

Do you think we are interested because possibly we are getting compensation from them to let him play?

Might be far fetched by I'm trying to understand why would we sign him if it's true.

To me he is a nrl standard 5/8 that would come dirt cheap and allow us to enter the.market for 2023.
 
Milford is freakishly talented, he’s just not very smart. Doesn’t quite understand the game like some other top talents, making him an excellent luxury player at his best, but not your general a la other top playmakers. He’s got million dollar physical gifts, but not the mental ones.

Dunno who else we were gonna get realistically. Kodi Nikorima is in that same boat of needing to play one more season before he goes to the Dolphins, somewhat similar player, but more consistent (outside of his awful, lazy defence) and far less talented. You can imagine the Warriors releasing him because of their glut of halves options, but is he a better half than Clune? Not really convinced he is. No point in signing anyone unless they have the ability to give us something better than the players we’ve got can.

Milford’s best years were better than those of any playmaker we have besides KP, and at 27 there’s no reason besides his own mentality and drive that he shouldn’t be able to reach his best again.
 
He might be talented and all that but seems to be a pretty crap bloke especially with the charges he is fighting, do we want someone like that at the club?

Personally I would stick with Clifford and Clune.

Me too. Last thing I want at the club is players who are not committed to performing at their best.

He could come here for a $1,000 a week and play first grade so he gets the big contract from the Dolphins later. Im not sure we are trying to sign him but on a cheap contract he is worth a shot because at his best he is a weapon .
If its true and he has to play first grade somewhere for a contract at the Dolphins in 2023 (which i read too) then he will surely give it his best shot here and if so thats only good for us.

Think you need to change that 1 to a 5 and then he may consider it.
 
It's funny that this thread is about a replacement for Pearce and no one seems to remember that Pearce had an appalling record for off field behaviour before he joined the club, and his record at the club wasn't exactly spotless either.
I can't be bothered looking up what Milford is accused of, because it's the job of police and prosecutions and these days the media to make things sound as bad as possible - and when the truth comes out it's usually a storm in a teacup.
But anyway, it's unlikely that Millford will end up with more black marks than Pearce managed to accumulate over his spotted career.
 
Don't worry about his record aren't we more concerned that he has been crap the past few year, aren't we better off going into the season with the current halves we have?

Brisbane have been very poorly managed and coached for the period Milford was going badly.
It's a chicken or the egg argument - if Milford was going badly because Brisbane was, or if Brisbane was going badly because Milford was.
