The pre-season thread - 2022

Our one big fault is we don't have an obvious leader.
If we sign one we'll be fine, or if Clifford and Ponga step up and become leaders.
Our forwards and our backs are better than most, and our young spine players are decent.

You never know who will gel as a team. Some have recruited quite well. The proof will be in the first 6-8 weeks.

Cowboys, broncos, bulldogs, warriors and tigers should all be definite wins.
Gold Coast are maybe’s, pretty similar quality team to us.

Rabbitohs, manly and storm might have a decline out of the top 4. Rabitts because of the loss of Bennett and Reynolds I think they massively overperformed as a squad due to those two guys.

Storm might very well lose two of their middles in kama*** who’s stood down on assault charges and NAS due to his vaccine stance, if they can’t replace them that’s a huge hole in their squad. If they can they’ll be top 4 again no doubt.

Manly I just look at them and think there’s no way turbo can have that good of a season again (maintain his form the entire season and stay injury free, surely something will give. Outside of him playing like an immortal they’re about similar to us in quality.

Roosters are my bet to win and panthers will be there again and Parra up there, they haven’t lost anyone for this year.

Parra will have a bad year imo. Could even miss the 8

It's harder to pick cellar dwellers in my opinion. You can sort of get an idea of who are the best teams, based mostly on the previous season. But every year there's always surprises, I would confidently predict that at least one of those 5 you mentioned, if not more, won't be an easy beat again in 2022.
 
The same Cowboys that put the cleaners through you in a game 2 years in a row despite being cellar dwellers?

Sounds like a easy win already for next season.
 
Thats about where I would place us. Mid table with just making the 8 again.

We could even be threatening top 4 if we gel well as a team and play week to week with the right attitude. Clifford should be capable of improving our end of sets over Pearce which is a crucial part of the game. Ponga will continue to be potent in attack. Just have to hope the replacement for Pearce can provide something in attack to complement Ponga and Clifford.

I wouldn't have us in the bottom 4 thats for sure.
 
That's the unknown isn't it lord.

If we don't snag a first grade ready half and KP+cliff cop long term injuries could be an unpleasant year.

We are no where near being like the roosters who can lose most of their first grade side, plug in the reserves and still run 5th or 6th
