On that note Jeremy Smith, an utter lunatic and enforcer when he was at Sharks and Dragons - Even spear tackled Mullen a few weeks after he signed with us when still at Dragons, came here and opposite of Scott.

It was like he didn't want to smash people anymore, shame I was pumped for him to come but he was up there with Sims as a bad signing for mine.

Atleast Scott did what he said on the can.
 
Thought Jeremy Smith was great for us … Daniel Saifiti was talking up as a big leader at the club when he first came into first grade on Toohey’s podcast a while back.
 
He had a great tackle technique. The commentators called it the Cumberland throw, I assume it was a reference to a tackle from a time well before me. It was very much like a throw, like something from judo, a big forward ran at Smith & then in a split second they were on the ground.

Definitely just had father time catch up with him in his last few years here though. Beau was one of the elite players of the comp for one season here, outside of that he was either injured or going through the motions.
 
Jeremy Smith was unbelievable at Cronulla. He didn’t play at that level for us but was still pretty good I thought.

Cumberland throw was the tackling technique developed by Ray Price - named after Parra original home ground, Cumberland Oval. He was supposed to have developed it when he was a skinny teenager tackling 130kg giant props they had in international union is those days.

Pretty close to the mark Josh - as Billy said, it was called a Cumberland throw after the best exponent of the tackle technique, Ray Price.

Cumberland Oval got burnt down by the fans after the 1981 Grand final win against the Newtown Jets.

As you can see by the pic at the bottom, it was a top notch facility 😲 - it was actually due for demolition anyway to make way for the 'new' Parramatta Stadium the next year (which has since been replaced by Bankwest Stadium)

Anyway, the fans burnt it down because they wanted to make sure there was no reason for the new construction not to start straight away🤣

Alan Langer used the throw a lot ,i remember a lot of people complaining about it but the Arl came out and said its legal as long as he puts a hand on them before tripping and throwing them .
