Rumour: Herman Ese Ese set to leave

He definitely is ahead of Gavet in the rotation imo.

I'd like to see Ese and Dan rotate with each other and Klemmer with Gavet.
Glasby with Sione/Barnett/Guerra

Dan and Ese getting roughly 40 minutes each.
Klemmer with 50 minutes
Gavet with 30 minutes
Glasby with 40 minutes
Sione etc getting the share of the other minutes.

I’d be giving Gavet 20 mins tops with more going to Dan and Ese.

Surely based on potential, age and experience Ese’ese rates at least equal to JSaf and ahead of Gavet, King and Saulo along with a couple in lower grade, he is a keeper.

He's the best of all of them by a margin imo. Not many middle forwards can throw the pass he did for Sione try assist.

*Ese comfirms that clubs have approached his manager.
*Says his only focus is playing well for the Knights.
*Him and his family like it in Newcastle.
*He says I'm signed till the end of next year so I don't know what happening, I'll leave that to my manager.
*Hopefully the Knights want to keep me.

After reading that it doesn't convince me he will stay next year. Could go either way I reckon.

Will be tough to keep him. They will want to upgrade a few contracts. Probably in different colours next season I’d say.

The one big thing with players that come here is …( Him and his family like it in Newcastle.) players and there families like the life style here and if the wife says , I Like It Here and so do the kids ... then he wont be going anywhere.
I hope he stays because imo in a year or two this guy could be the best lock in oz ...

We only have 11 players signed beyond end 2020 so plenty of space to sign those we want to keep and let some go that are not quite right. A few will go end of this season and no doubt some will be re-signed or contract extended.

Who knows with the NRL though? Anything could happen. Wouldn't surprise me if he left early with the club's permission, but I hope he stays long term.

Yeah, I know the whole business aspect of Rugby League and all...He might leave when he is a free agent but Brownie isn't like Bennett, if he says someone isn't going anywhere then he doesn't mean the opposite lol.

I’ve loved Ese’ese since he’s come here, been quite under-utilised this year compared to last. He’s miles in front of King, and just ahead of Saulo whose also getting limited minutes. Was our best forward alongside Guerra last year and runs like a maniac and bends the line well. I hope he sticks around longer than 2020.

He's miles ahead of King and Saulo . Saulo may one day be a damned good prop but he has a long way to go yet and is no where near Ese,ese and I haven't seen anything from him that would suggest otherwise .

Way too much smoke around, been going on for months now, half expecting him to be at a new club next year or at the least the year after that. It's a shame because he's high quality but sometimes that just happens, clubs inexplicably let good players go sometimes. Maybe there's something behind the scenes that we don't see, but surely with high end players you just figure it out & make it work?

Have to admit whilst Ese is very good, is he the type we want to get in a bidding war for? I wouldn't go above $400k for him personally.

I'd certainly be keeping him for next year but we have Ponga, Pearce, Klemmer who are chewing up $3 million of the cap between them and sadly we can't keep them all.

Rather use that money to give nice little upgrades of DSafiti, Klemmer and Ponga to be honest.
Ese doing a lot of Gallen like runs this year, crab runs across field. If he just run straight hard like Klem he be worth resigning.

Salary cap pressure is the reason Herman may be let go.

*Club would be happy to let Moga or Levi go but there is no takers yet.
*Guerra might opt out of the final year of his contract to play over seas.
*Club needs money to upgrade Ponga, Dan and Ramien. Also to register Brailey.
*Brown doesn't want to let Herman go but he may have to be because he is a good player and clubs want him.
*Apparently we need another back rower for the balance of the squad.
*Not enough money to re-sign SKD and Hunt atm.

It seems the Knights are doing all this to try and get Brailey. Is Brailey worth all this? Levi is pretty good.

We have a heap of props and we are running short in other positions.
It makes sense to sell a prop.

It probably sounds about right. We just had three middles play origin, and we're not the Roosters or Broncos unfortunately.

I would like to see as put together something for Hunt though.

I'd reckon Brailey and Levi would be on similar money, so I'm not sure that's the reason for the cap pressure.
