Brown was right when he said they should let Pearce run the show or not pick him.
Picking him with another organising half is not going to work for either of them.
Too many cooks scenario.

Pearce will naturally take control over Cleary as the senior, more dominant player. If Cleary is selected alongside Pearce, he'll just be a support role for sure.

Josh King ruled out (that must be some cork he has to rule him out for a month).
I'd pick Jake Saifiti over Saulo because he has 10 times the firstgrade experience, but the 2 of them have had almost identical stats in reserve grade for the last few games. Both were starting props and played 47 minutes in 2 spells last game. Saulo ran a few more metres and Saifiti made a few more tackles.

Definitely should go with Jacob, Brown clearly didnt have the confidence to throw Saulo on last week when the game was a bit of a wrestle, dont think that would be a issue with Jacob.

Guerra and King dropped from the 21.
Saulo comes into the 17 for King.

1. Kalyn Ponga,
2. Edrick Lee,
3. Hymel Hunt,
4. Jesse Ramien,
5. Shaun Kenny-Dowall,
6. Kurt Mann,
7. Mitchell Pearce,
8. James Gavet,
9. Connor Watson,
10. Daniel Saifiti,
11. Lachlan Fitzgibbon,
12. Mitch Barnett,
13. Tim Glasby.

Interchange:
14. Jamie Buhrer,
15. Herman Ese'ese,
17. Sione Mata'utia,
19. Pasami Saulo,

18. Mason Lino,
20. Jacob Saifiti

I think JSaf and Pasami are neck and neck on form, but Jake has 47 games of firstgrade and 7 international games for Fiji, and Pasami has 4 firstgrade games.

If we are talking fully fit and in form, a fully fit Jake Saifiti is better than a fully fit James Gavet.
Both of them offer similar skills. Both had about 50 firstgrade games at the start of this season - just Jake is 6 years younger, 4 inches taller, 8kg heavier, runs more metres, gives away less penalties, etc etc.

I love the way James runs the ball up, but every time he's involved in defence I think he's gong to give a penalty away, so I'd prefer Jake. Tipping us as 4 point winners!! Bring on kick off!

Not that Gavets been the pillar of consistency but how many games have we seen top Jake in 1st grade for >10 even >5?

Gavet didn't play firstgrade till he was 23 and had reached 50 firstgrade games when he was 28.
Jake played firstgrade at 19, and if he plays the next 3 games he will have 50 and still be younger than Gavet was before he debuted (and Gavet had to wait 2 years after his debut to get another game).
In short, Jake is right at the start of his career, and James has reached maturity for a prop at age 29, and has had just about the same firstgrade experience.
Age 23 is when props start to hit their straps, and they peak in their late 20s.

Saulo in.

JSaf and Lino out.
