Nathan Ross

I’m still holding out hope we can get Ross off the books and sounds like it’s still plausible if they can move on another player to fit him in

When he played fullback in reserve grade he was the most dominant attacking player I've seen at the Knights.
He basically had the freedom to roam around and get the ball whenever he called for it, and he had the knack of picking out weak defenders and destroying them.
He averaged something like a dozen tackle breaks a game and had incredible upper body strength for a little guy.
His best game was the one where he ran over Clint Gutherson to score 3 tries and made him look like clown - Rossy still has a little sly dig at Gutherson in interviews sometimes.
He had big faults in his game - mostly that he was a little guy who was terrible under a high ball - but when he was playing fullback in reserve grade you always thought he could score from anywhere on the field, and every time he bobbed up you'd be on the edge of your seat.

People often have short memories and forget how good the Ross dog was for 2.5 years. He stood out in a team that had nothing going for it. Wish him all the best!

Kind of like how Gaigai was our best player in a one win team.

Knights catch a lucky break with this one, Wests wouldn’t have buckled to his demands. Would have been a decent backup on a bit less then half of what he was on but wasn’t to be.

The club wins in this instance considering they wanted to offload him anyways.

Shame for Rossy but I guess he should have taken the tip and left at the end of last year, he'll only get paid out his last year of his Knights' contract, would have been better for him to have another 2 years to go on a new deal he might have got.

Hopefully the club looks after him, I'm sure he'd be useful in some capacity.

The big question now is what to do with his roster spot and his salary???

Go to the market or upgrade someone like Star Toa, Tex Hoy or even Beau Fermor ???

Think his contract gets fully paid to him so next year as well, its just that from when he retires this year(the percentage left) and next years contract don't get paid by the club, and you'd assume we have insurance to pay for such instances.

Got a few off contract, Slade, Hunt, Buhrer and SKD I'd say the first 3 are goneski's, so there's a good chance we could bring in 2-3 more players as well as upgrade young players as we allegedly had some free to go for TPJ again already.

Tubby, thanksfor that video of Rossdog, very good, yes we tend to forget, not one of our best players but definitely a fan favourite sad to go out injured, wish him all the best

No one was paying ross more than the $700k for 2019/20 he was already on and he will be paid that out. So he didn't cost himself anything.

Yes it gets paid the remainder of his deal I thought his deal was done at the end of this year, but on second look he had another year to go.

Yea h I thought he was on his last year, didn't realise he had 2 more to go !!!

Massive blessing in disguise for the club, freeing up the best part of 700K for the next two years

I was talking more about this year

I agree those 4 guys will be lucky to get new deals for 2020

They still had a fair chunk of cap space left over to fill the last top 30 spot for this year too. Will be interesting to see who becomes available before June 30.

I wouldn't mind using some of the coin to extend Hunt but I know he may get a way better offer from someone else. Keeping in mind we are also planning on upgrading Ramien before November first (hopefully)

As above though we've done best when we have waited for the right players like Pearce/Klemmer.

Shame for the dog, he was something to cheer for and get excited about in some lean times.

Best thing for him and the club really.
