Toohey's News

Levi is in exactly the same position as Pearce was in at the Roosters - the coach wanting to upgrade, but keep him as a depth player.

Pearce is a hero for wanting to go to a team that wanted him.

Levi is some sort of comic book villain for wanting to do the same thing.

Players should look after their own best interests - because no one else is going to.
Pearce was a hero for coming to us, he could have stayed or gone anywhere he wanted! I don't think Levi is a hero! I think he is a selfish spoilt brat who is only going to take his stinking attitude wherever he goes! I don't doubt the kids ability, but unless he changes his very poor attitude, he will be another Terence Seue Seue!

Who said the Knights don’t want him? He’s signed until 2020 isn’t he? His request for a release was knocked back, and from articles I recall reading, Brown reiterated that he is wanted.

Pearce is no hero simply for coming to us. Roosters saw an opportunity for Cronk but told Pearce he was still wanted. It’s virtually the same situation.

Difference is that Pearce is in his career prime, has won a premiership and played Origins. IMO, with that history, he was entitled to feel as though he should be starting, if not at the Roosters then somewhere. Levi is not there yet, and has not shown enough to have that same entitlement.

There is not much competition for hooker spots at the moment. Woolford, possibly Mann, Buhrer and Levi. That’s a prime opportunity for Levi to show he should be our first choice hooker. If he wants to leave and find a team with an even lower benchmark of a challenge, then we should probably let him go. Give the opportunity to someone like Woolford who seems to welcome the opportunity competition provides rather than interpret it as the team not wanting him.

Where is all this talk coming from? Seems like a lot of dribble to me.

Levi acted like a child early this season and Brown pretty much taught him a valuable lesson " that you need to earn your place"
Once Levi grew up and started to show fight he got back into the side and was starting to have a 50/50 run with Griffin, unfortunate that Griffin went down as Levi then had to try play longer minutes and became less affective in what he brings to the table.

Can someone tell me why all these posts above have started? Or is it just the standard nothing to talk about so that's just make chit up and run with it?

Based on current and likely signings we are kidding ourselves if we are not playing Levi or Woolford at 9 until Griff is back which is likely late 2019 or 2020. Most/very unlikely to sign another hooker with Klemmer and Mann at 28 & 29. If coach is a coach then Levi's supposed regular dummy spits/attitude should have been dealt with. Time to embrace the team we have and let go the attitude, the team is what we have not going to change much now except in dreams, barring serious injury it's 4-8 possibility.

Don't forget Damien Cook is off contract in 2020, there's every possibility we'd have a crack bringing him here...

Was in the herald that he may be granted a release if requested

Nah ~ Herald rather make a buck selling access rights rather than free posts. It is the way all print media worldwide is goin g.

Nah just been in trouble with posting articles before. So we thought now most are behind paywalls better to be safe

Fair call. (Of course we'll still get the articles for free if we want to, just takes more effort.)

As long as we know what's acceptable, don't want to create issues or extra work for the mods.

JT putting in his 5c about where to play KP. I'd like to see stay FB, at least for now. He will be targeted one way or another in either position. More importantly, imo, I'd like to see Watson on the field 80min a game, whether it be hooker, fb or 5/8.

Playing 5/8 for us won't affect his chances of being picked for QLD. The best players get picked, and if need be, they will pick him at fullback regardless of where he plays for us.

300k is basic first grader money. Anything less and you talking reggise player with possibility of first grade.

Interesting to note Klems deal is 100% cap money, I am sure that went a long way to securing him after his reported issues with getting paid his TPA at dogs. He has security here.

850 salary cap money for Klem, and his manager will have no trouble getting him TPAs - the club is supposed to have nothing to do with that.

Toohey says Loughrey and Alifa have signed for Cessnock. They are probably training with our part time squad and will play for Cessnock if we don't need them for reserve grade. Loughrey is a similar style player to Lino and will probably be better by next year.

Can we stop pretending clubs have nothing to do with TPA's.

Toohey is already talking TPA's taking up part of Ponga's upgraded contract to keep him here.

Enough, clubs 100% have involvement in TPA's paid to players to play for clubs.

Let's stop pretending.
