I was told a few weeks before the news of Graham that we are in the process of signing a big name prop by mid-season... at the time i wasnt given a name on who that signing was!
I was also told that player had a massive contract for 2018 and where a bit short on the figure.
 
Brown actually met with the guy, and they met on the Central Coast.
Brown could have taken guys like Kostjaysyn, Cogger, the Saifitis etc who have lived on the Central Coast or still live on the Central Coast and commuted to Newcastle, or even Pauli Pauli who still lives in western Sydney.
 
Just pay the man. We need a big name signing badly. Another player rumoured to be a target but turning their back on us, along with likely Foran doing the same is not a good look.

If we are squabbling over a hundred K or so, pay him!

From my calculations where offering 950k a yr for 3yrs... Graham is on close to 1.15mil for 2018.... we will pay him i have no doubts about it.

Wood and teddy are both on the dogs hit list.
Hoppa Graham and 2-3 lesser names to be moved on... Reynolds is one of them
 
I maybe biased but I think to live on the Central coast and play for us is his best choice lifestyle wise. Out of the sydney spot light and away from all the things that got him in trouble before. Close to his mother and support network and an hour drive or so to his kids. Gets a small Fortune off us and the leadership role and rebuild with us is something I think he would thrive on. And we get one of the best halves in the comp. win win for everyone

Still don't think it will happen tho.

Can't see any difference. He was an hour from his mother when he was on the North Shore and don't they have gambling or high rollers on the cc any more?

It would be great to have him but I don't see it.

Well Barry Toohey has just said cap space is less than 3.5m for 2018 if Gagai re-signs.

Let's say cap goes from $7m to $9m, the following 19 players must be on more than $5.5m combined.

Who has a new deal from 2018?
Barnett 2017 100k to 180k-200k ish 2018
Twins 2017 130k ish to 200k ish each 2018
Levi 2017 150k ish to 225k ish 2018
Lamb 2017 100k ish to 200k ish 2018
Ponga 700k ish or roughly Mullens contract minus tpa

So that kinda evens it out pretty quickly yeah?

Ill stand by my opinion that we have ROUGHLY 1.5mill available in our cap atm.

Well since ive been able to at least provide some kind of numbers be them wrong or right... what do u think we have then Slots?

With 19 contracted and looking at 2mil for Foran and Graham that doesnt allow a lot of wiggle room to sign or re-sign another 7 guys now does it?

So from what ur saying Mooney and Brown havent fixed the cap at all... if we are over 1000games less of experience and little more funds available to show for it.
 
From my understanding with Mullens money included we should have 1. 2-1. 5 mil free?. Not including all the players off contract.

In 2016 we had retirements or departures
Snowden 450k
Tariq 450k some said 600k
Mcmanus 250k
Smith 200k
Houston 150k
Korbin 300k
Mamo 150k

Thats 2mil and was reported by the club that we were a few mil short on cap spending due to the nrl payback.

Who have we signed
Wardle 200k maybe less
Sio 150k maybe less
Elliot 100k max
Starling 85k max
Barnett 100k ish

Just cant see how we wouldnt have well over a mill available in our cap.

Put it this way if we dont have that much free then us fans need some answers of wtf is happening to have such little funds available with a reserve grade team on the field
