Official: Knights sign Kalyn Ponga on a 4 year deal

I have to say in all my years of being on this and other forums, I've never known anyone to be so damned good at posting news, info, stats, updates, etc as @rhugh89 . Maybe people have done it for six months or so, but then the enthusiasm wanes and it's all over. rhugh is non-stop. I actually suspect he's some sort of forum moderating robot. Nobody of flesh and blood can be that good.

This place would be nowhere near as active without it.

Thanks for the kind words mate !!

It helps that I actually enjoy doing it, I look forward to getting home from work and jumping on the forum everyday

My secret is .....COFFEE....LOTS OF COFFEE :hello:

You do a great job as a moderator.
90% of being a moderator is to make sure relevant topics get covered and information is available, and you kill that.
Some people see the main role of a moderator as being a disciplinarian, and that's actually a tiny part of the job, and the part I always hated doing. In fact, most of the job is fun, and bossing people around is the opposite of fun.
You do the interesting and informative job of being a moderator as well as anyone I've seen, and that's the part that makes the site good.
In my experience, anyone who actually likes the discipline bit turns out to be a forum nazi who should never have been a mod anyway.

Thanks mate, I do put a lot of effort in but the key is that I enjoy doing it

I also don't enjoy the disciplinarian role at times, I prefer to talk and negotiate before I ban which sometimes isn't the right approach but it's the way I do things

I enjoy the stats, articles, gameday threads, member milestones etc more than the other stuff

You do an amazing job rough as is proven every year in our member awards.
As for disciplinarian roles, nobody enjoys that part and nobody is getting banned without a chat first. We aren't here to control but to guide :giggle:
And @jamesgould don't knock the laughing smiley - its super cute and since I'm in charge of smilies the giggles STAY! (However, I will add a normal laughing one just for the men who don't want to giggle)

Thanks to those of you who backed up the admin and mods, its much appreciated.

I think the smilies list could have its game lifted... there is some beauties out there these days..
Last weekend a emoji of a guy diging a hole would of been handy

Kalyn Ponga has no regrets about leaving Cowboys (and JT) to join Newcastle

BIRTHDAY boy Kalyn Ponga insists he has no regrets about quitting the Cowboys despite losing the benefits of learning from champion playmaker Johnathan Thurston.

Thurston provided Ponga a close-up view of what he will miss next season when he delivered a sublime inside ball for the teenager to score his first NRL try against the Titans last week.

Ponga, who turns 19 on Thursday, will join wooden-spooners Newcastle on a $3 million deal from next season. The move has bitterly disappointed Thurston, who believes Ponga could ascend to stardom learning from representative players in the Cowboys’ system.

Ponga, who will make way for returning fullback Lachlan Coote (calf) for Friday night’s clash against Souths, has no intention of reneging on his Knights deal.

“I’m happy with my decision,” he said. “I guess for me it was about opportunity, my future is sorted out and I’m looking forward to what I can achieve in the years ahead.

“In saying that, it was hard. The Cowboys are a great club and they have done a lot for me, particularly guys like Thurston and Morgo (five-eighth Michael Morgan), who I’ve learned a lot from, even at training.’’

Ponga threw a scare through the Cowboys when he injured his knee against Manly a fortnight ago. He was not 100 per cent fit against the Titans but the quick-stepping fullback moved freely enough to terrorise defenders in only his fourth NRL game.

With his speed and footwork, Ponga is making the NRL look easy but the attacking star says he is being tested.

“I came into the NRL last year in pretty different circumstances,” he said.

“I was thrown on to the wing (for his debut in the finals against the Broncos) but I enjoy playing fullback and it’s been good to get some opportunities there.

“It’s definitely tough in the NRL. Defensively, there’s not as much room to move and mentally you can’t afford to drop off but so far I’m enjoying it.”

Like Cowboys teammate Jason Taumalolo, Ponga is eligible for both New Zealand and Queensland.

Taumalolo opted for the Kiwis, much to the dismay of former Maroons coach Mal Meninga, but Ponga insists he has not yet made up his mind.

“There’s still no decision there,” said Ponga, who was born in Australia but has New Zealand blood through his father Andre.

“It’s something I don’t need to rush. My focus at the moment is the Cowboys and making sure I play well for them. We’ll see what happens down the track.’’

Wasn't it confirmed by the club and Toohey that the figure being touted by the media was wrong and much more than what he's actually getting? Do we even know the exact figure?

Your still prone too rubbish on occassion NRL never confirms salaries.

Tha kazillion dollars was started by a bitter cows headed by Paul Green.

Its about $450k a season with his family getting looked after with jobs.

You and slots really need to cut the drama once on a while.

Honestly its quite babyish your temper tanters.
