But look at there kicking options.

We have a 5 game 20yr old or a guy on one and a half legs.

There was a reason Dylan was a huge loss and that was his ability of general kicking.

We have still had 7 repeat sets in 3 games and 3 tries from kicks which isnt to bad.

Fyi we aint losing games due to the kicking game.

I think I'd prefer my captain and highly paid halfback rather than the second rowers to be getting the try assists and repeat sets from kicks

Its been well known that hodko has bad knees and the coach is trying to limit the pressure on using hodko in situations as often as possible.... so 5th tackle shots as he is kicking is one aspect of helping him get through games.... one good hit and his a good change of being sidelined for a mth or more.

Should the club send a email to each nrl play to have it completely out in the open?
Then have him targeted by every grub in each team?
Thiday on Bromwich on Friday night is a prime exaple... every tactic to win is used including attacking a players weak point.

I don't think Hodkinson having bad knees is any sort of NRL secret. I have a sneaking suspicion the grubs already know.

The time when damage is generally done to a attacking kickers knees is when putting downfield kicks in at the end of a set. I can't recall a player suffering a knee injury whilst grubbering to the in goal.

Hodkinson does put kicks in downfield occasionally but tends not to, I get that side of it may be for his knees. But not putting virtually any kicks in to the in goal to try to get a repeat set is nothing to do with protecting his knees. Maybe that's why he doesn't take on the line also, unless he is forced to by defence rushing up beside him and cutting off his passing options.

So we've bought a half with knees that are so bad, he seemingly can't kick the ball, can't run at the line, and basically just stands there in the attacking line, and passes to the next guy!

The try he scored against the rabbits he only scored as he had to dodge a rushing defender and noticed a huge hole there. Otherwise it was another pass along the line to someone else.

Not that that is likely to happen, but our half is fairly useless at his job.

Unfortunately, we don't have any good options to replace him, and I can't see him being dropped being captain and all. Brown for whatever reason seems to tolerate him. Probably because we have no other option.

If Jack Bird is our 5/8 next year we should be looking at 7. Lamb 6. Bird ........ 18. Hodko

I must of missed the announcement, press conference discussion or otherwise, that Hodkinson was not kicking in general play due to his knees? Please fill me in when this was disclosed by the Knights?

I think Toohey said it the other week, he's always spot on about Knights information.

That's what he did at the dogs.

Sure, but the dogs aren't know for their usage of halfbacks. Most of the time first receiver is a forward. Seems we are adopting a similar position using forwards as playmakers.

I knew how he went at the dogs, I was hoping he would come here and embrace a more hands on role.

He needs to be taking on the line more, he looks dangerous when he does, and when he runs across the face of the defence and turns the ball back inside. He needs to be doing more attacking kicking, if for no other reason than to give the team another option, and give opposition players another person to think about.

He won't damage his knee putting a grubber in.

For what it's worth, Levi went 75 minutes and only missed 2 tackles.
He has only ever gone 80 minutes in firstgrade twice, and both times missed 6 tackles.
He only ran twice, but I thought his runs were well timed, and he was also very good at dummy half.
If he'd have made a few more tackles I'd call that a career best game, matched up against Farrer and coming out at least even - maybe on top.

If Levi is going to be pushed to be an 80 minute hooker, but that affects his output with his great running from dummy half, then I hope he never becomes an 80 minute hooker.

When he is getting away from dummy half he really gets our forwards rolling up the field.

Let's not blunt him for the sake of additional minutes.

Its a stop gap atm to try keep Burher on the edge as long as possible.

Kosty is only 4wks away i think? So levi will drop back to 50min games

Hopefully Tom Starling is good enough to come off the bench for Levi in a few years time. Like Levi, he's great at getting out from dummy half and getting the forwards going forward which is what we need. Only thing that will hold him back is his size.

Our getting up the field has been great this year so far. His running game has definitely helped that. Can't see the game plan being him as an 80 min player when Kosty is back
