Official: Korbin Sims signs with the Broncos

Haven't heard Rochow or Bennett bag club? Any links ?

Don't have links but Bennett had several digs at the club not long after he left and Rochow didn't really bag the club but said something along the lines of not having the motivation to continue being here and having to go to Souths to challenge himself.

The way I read it, Brown will only let him walk if we pay nothing to subsidize his wages.
I can't see Bennett offering him 400k.
200k sounds more like it - maybe 300k.
If Korbs takes a 100 to 200k pay cut to get out of Newcastle - well, he doesn't want to be here.

Bennett will offer 200k and another 200k under the table. That's how Brisbane's salary cap works.

Good article and well written.

Brown is mad if he lets another senior player go without having a replacement ready to throw on the jumper.

If Sims goes and we get no one to replace him and end up 2W 10L by mid season Brown will be sacked

I noticed there was an article on Rochow in the paper today, saying he is fully fit for the first time in years and has been able to do every training session so far, including all weights, which he hasn't been able to do before.
The article also said he only signed for Souths for 1 year.
I think we could make him an offer for 2018 if he proves his fitness.
The only issue he had at Newcastle was that he wasn't going to get a good offer after years of injuries, so he should be willing to consider a decent offer, and we should be willing to make one if he is finally fit.

Thats not how I remember it at all. He was offered the same by the Knights and a longer contract. He said in an interview he wanted a fresh start and a new challenge. ( to be in a successful team )

It was good to see sections of the media finally taking Bennett to task last year. Public opinion is changing in regards to him with alot of people now realising that he's not a good person at all.

Bennett is a self perpetuated myth. I like reading Roy Masters insightful journalism and on more than the odd occasion he's laid bare the truth behind the facade that is Wayne Bennett. Even Phil Gould has had a few thinly veiled swipes at the way in which Bennett goes about his work and in one article posed the question ( upon the club Rick Stone inherited and his subsequent sacking ) that perhaps the true measure of a coach is the state of a club he leaves behind.

Wayne doesnt give of his time to the All Stars game because his Mr Good Guy. He coaches those gigs so he can be close to the games elite players and can use the association should it be required for his clubs future recruiting.

Well I've always rated Korbin Sims and still think he should be playing Lock. 2016 was hard to find anyone in good form, the only standout for me was Ross and the Saifiti brothers. Even Hodkinson for what we are paying him really needed to lead our young team last year.

I'm sure Sims will look great in a star studded stacked deck which is the Broncos. Good luck to him

Lets hope he does a Blake Ferguson who left the Sharkies to play in a team that could win a Premiership and years later still hasnt played in a GF.

Broncos won't make the 8 this season. Forward pack will get bashed from pillar to post and they now have no workhorse. Shut Melford down and the side is very 1 dimensional. Good luck to Korbin if he ends up with that sh*t stain mob.

If Korbin wants to go let him we don't want anyone at the club that wants to be somewhere else and to be honest he didn't go close to earning $400,000 last season and on that form would not be hard to replace ....He was infact out played by a couple of rookies who will be keener fitter and better this season...
If he was told to take a back seat as has been suggested on here (which I think is crazy)then get rid of him for doing it because that just goes to show how stupid he is , as it is said now that his form last season has severely hurt his chances of being picked for SOO....
Last season he was our most experienced Prop but he wasn't our best prop and should have been ...

Not true Mozza,

His had a pretty rough run at this club, came into grade with a half ok team around him to learn from which he was, then 12mths later his best mate McKinnon has a horrific injury which busted korbs a fair bit inside, then his brother gets treated like crap worth it or not that would not taste good in my mouth either.
His career here is obviously going down hill and he obviously wants better for himself which atm and in the near future this club cant provide.
I dont know what u do for a job but if u couldnt see ur career going any further there would u not look around also?
Korbs has been loyal to us but we dont know what is going on with Browns plans and if korbs agrees with it or not either.
More to it then just being a knight or not a knight.
He is paid $400,000 a year to do as he is told not agree or disagree just do his job at 100% which he has not done at least last season and imo the one before too and as far as I could see Tariq also took the clubs money and gave 70% effort for it just like his brother and imo he treated the club badly not the other way round....

Firstly he wasnt on 600k it was 400k
Secondly the team was chit and we expected him to carry the team on his own and when he didnt we gave him heaps for it,
Stats dont lie mate, he made meters and plenty of tackles as well.
Dont know what people expect from one player surrounded by crap players.

He had a kid inside him missing every tackle he tried to make and a centre outside him doing the same and a winger no better as well. Ffs cant defend for 4 players then turn around and make 200m in attack with no ball anyway.
What people expect is to give 100% for the money they make and that hasn't happened in the last 2 years from either brother and you can say what you want but Korbin himself has said HE didn't have a very good season so you cant blame anyone else for his own poor form ....

I would have thought Tariq would have been on more than Korbin ...

Korbs is on 350k tariq was on 400k plus a tpa that i cant remember but it wasnt a big one... maybe 50k?

Im not gonna have a argument about them with ya though.

Last 2 seasons? 2015 was Korbin's best year. He really had a go that year. Despite his stats being below Snowden's, the majority of us on here were praising him as our best & most impactful prop. Short memory if you think he's been average for 2 years.

I'd swap Sims for Ponga in a heartbeat.

Sounds like he wants to play under Bennett though so I doubt it's an option.

No mate no argument here as I don't know what they are on just that Tariq would I thought be on more than Korbin and most of what I read said he was close to $400,000 so I thought Tariq would be on more than that ..But as I said I don't know what either are on ...

Tariq was on 600k per season. That was a figure used in all original reports

Stone resigned Stockwell to a 300k deal--it stands to reason that Tariq, who was considered an origin quality backrower by Stone at the time, was worth more than 100k more than Stockwell

There was a rumor of swapping korbs for ponga a while back,
Would u like korbs at the cows cowboyman

That was just a general assumption made by the media as we had just lost Hannant to retirement. Cowboys have shown zero interest in him as far as I am and insiders on the Cowboys forum are aware.

Certainly wouldn't want him at the Cowboys. Have always said he was the least talented and over hyped one of them all. We had the best that is Tariq before broken legs ruined him.

Gee mate, thanks for nothing! - You couldn't have warned the club off him before he signed in the first place :)

Maybe we can use Korbin's money to give Stockwell an upgrade.
