Offical: Manly Sign Uate for 2 years

Newcastle are on the verge of striking a release for winger Akuila Uate to join Manly.

The finer details of the release are still being ironed out with the Sea Eagles offering up the services of Brenton Lawrence as a sweetener to get Uate to Brookvale next season.

Lawrence has signed on with the Sea Eagles for another season after activating an option in his favour for 2017 but the Knights are unlikely to engage in a player swap.

Instead, the clubs are working on a payment plan which will see Trent Barrett’s team chip in a handsome chunk of Uate’s almost $500,000-a-season salary.

Good to see and can't wait for some signing announcements.

I wonder how big a chunk the sea eagles are willing to pay. Considering Brown said no more paying players at other clubs, though I think he will need to eat some humble pie on that call to move Uate, and he should.

Even if we are paying 100k to move Uate there, it frees up 400k and it's only for 1 season. It's a no brainer.

Wouldn't have minded Lawrence
 
Whisper is Manly offered $200,000 leaving us carrying $300,000 in 2017. There is no one decent in the market place so no great buys until 2018.
 
Eh 200k is better then I had hoped for someone that has spent half the year in reserves and probably will make the same defensive mistakes. Not sure how he will go under Barrett but 2V would have been good for him and given him a rocket up the bum no doubt.
 
Seen Aku today in town. Doesn't look injured to me. He sprinted to catch up with paea and pauli. His injury can't be too bad.

It will be interesting to see what a "handsome chunk" turns out to be! My brother he fell out of the ugly tree and must of hit every branch on the way down, not only that, I think it rattled his brain a bit! Anyway he hasn't worked much, except for that job at the mill which didn't end well, the point being a handsome chunk to him would be 5 bucks! Now my sister on the other hand WOW WEEE! She must be a throw back of some description, most beautiful woman you have ever seen, but still as silly as a wheel! Anyway she married this rich bloke and I mean rich, he has his own car and everything, he even wears shoes most of the time! Now to her a handsome chunk would be the whole darn $500K! I suppose my point is how handsome the chunk is depends of your perspective! If ya know what I mean!
