Chris Houston signs with the Widnes Vikings

Was a beast for us in 2009 and 2011. Shame his career has ended this way at the Knights but certainly a club man that many of the players will miss having around. All the best Houso!

The drugs and wicks thing really killed him off for mind he was horrible ever since

It was a shame he came back not the same player as his first couple of years here. He seemed to have genuine rep potential at the time with some good attacking ability, but he lost that part of his game when he came back for some reason.

Well he was still great in 2011, a big part of the reason we made the finals that year.

Always thought he was better at prop than second row.

He'll go well in the Super League, I reckon. Thanks for the memories and efforts, Mr Houston! :)

Glad to see him go but not bashing alot of his time here. Should go good over there, just not quite good enough to be top shelf since returning

So does this make Jeremy Smith our only player who's in the 30+ age bracket now?

Yeah, back to the pre-Bennett days, very little players over 30, but probably even much younger than those days. Snowy will also be 30, although only on literally the last day of 2016 if you want to count that.

Its a giant ****take if we don't get atleast 2 genuine first graders before kick off, preferably a center and a prop.

It's a laughing stock, if we go into next season with nothing added until then we will have no chance. I believe they would be looking to sign someone, but at this point there's nothing much good around so the question of is it even worth signing what is available has to come up.

Still plenty of time left until next season. Some player will stuff up or get released from salary cap pressure, etc, and hopefully it's someone we're looking for.

I remember a few years ago when we had a pile of depth, it seemed like such a waste having so many reserve players on NRL priced contracts without playing very much NRL. At that stage I said that we really should get rid of all those players who we were paying decent contracts to just be depth players and we should rely on our young players and cheaper players for our depth and that's what seems to be happening now. I believe we should be going all out to get our top say 18 at it's very best it can be and when injury strikes then give the young players their shot to step up. I think we have some really good young players who may seem like nobodies now but will step up when we need them. We have depth, our juniors are our depth and I'm fine with that. Focus on bringing some high quality players here first, quality over quantity. Brown is the guy to back the young players all the way and he's proven to have great success with it. Agree though, surely we have some bigger named players lined up.

Agree mate, but maybe all out on a couple more than 18 players.

Yeah possibly, I just think we should put everything we have in making the starting team as strong as possible and make sure we have quality young players ready to go when needed instead of spending a large chunk of salary cap on a dozen fringe players who we may not need through the year. I'd be happy to risk spending majority of the cap on our top 18 or so and then using young players who are not only cheap but are eager, exciting and potentially can be stars for us when they're called upon.

100%... That's the direction I think Browny is going too. He's clearing the decks to strengthen a couple of key areas, with quality players. Whilst at the same time picking up a couple of really good (promising) 20 -22 yr olds. He's not a silly man.

That's how the good teams do it!
