ROUND 1: Knights v Warriors @ Hunter Stadium

Tyler was also outstanding, dos his job well didn't over complicate things. That's all we need. Sione handled himself well also. Mullo needs to remember how to kick into corners and build pressure, some of them bombs were terrible, houston should make way for t. Sims at this stage Imo

Leilua was poor but he'll improve. He was rocks for 90% of the game but finished as a diamond when it counted for the remaining 10%.

No disrespect to the Warriors but we should have put a few more tries on them. It was that far of a difference in performance it wasn't funny. The fact the Warriors didn't score a point in the second half further shows that despite having opportunities and despite being against 12 men as well.
But as usual it's the same problems for them, cant build pressure, dont have a variety of kicking options (kept going for bombs even though it was clear we handled it) until Townsend had to make a go of things and an all around weak mental game. It didn't help that their confidence was boosted from being allowed to lie all over the ruck and not get done for it until later on. The 8 point try was a ridculously wrong decision and I hope a few emails get sent to the Referees boss. The fact that the Warriors scored two tries which were at the very best benefit of the doubt tries is a testament to our line defence.
Still a solid start to build from, didn't put our heads down when were down and the boys looked like they really wanted to win for Stoney and the fans. Need to work on a few things but that's ok, it's only round one. We built pressure and didn't have to rely on half breaks like the Warriors did all game. A real Novacastrian win today.
Keep it up boys!

Very proud of the boys. Not seen much of Randell before but very pleased to hear he has signed for 2 more years after todays performance. He was perfect. Also thought Stockwell was solid and Sims average which I did not expect

Gunner - I thought he was great which certainly wasn't surprising given he can at least walk without a limp this year but a good kicker will have him for breakfast.

Aku looks fitter which is good, but high balls still an issue, BJ was our best back rower along with rochow (for quick play the balls and metres)

Mullens long kicking game was hopeless, Tyrone even with his two mistakes they were the right idea, issue was no mcmanus on the wing for the second error.

Randell was one of our best, sione played well prolly needed to get involved more, had a great one on one tackle that shouldnt of been a penalty

forwards lacking a bit but to be expected, fitness was an issue but its round one and it was a hot day

Can't wait to see how we back it up and how we play with gids in the team

Will obviously never be a strength. In good form I think he more than makes up for it though.

More love for Rochow is needed! Had an absolute blinder, great leg drive after contact.

The stadium had a real good feel about it today.

I wish the turn out was a little better but was great to see the knights looking more structured but yet free playing with the ball, all round good performance with gagai, randell, leilua and rochow looking our best, personally thought stockwell was very promising as well.

Watching live I thought Sims was pretty good. He had a few solid runs and was good in D. I'll have to watch a replay and have a 2nd look lol.

I think I was just expecting to see a big improvement from last year. Too soon to judge I guess. Also may be a bit bias and filthy with him due to the lower Supercoach score!!

I haven't even looked at my supercoach yet... Sims didn't seem to play many minutes either. Houston stayed on too long at his expense lol.

Thats the uate we love as long as he scores 5 tries for every 3 he lets in its all good.
