Anzac Test thread

Gidley will always be the #14 for as long as he wants it.

But he will have to settle for being a back up to the starting 13 because he will never be in the starting 13 for Australia.

His only real chance is a player getting injured early in a game like Inglis coming off last night in the end.

Still, as Billy says not bad for his pay packet and the experience, and maybe he will get more game time in World Cup against more useless sides.

I'm just saying Australia and England have beaten NZ 7/7 times over the last 3 years while Australia haven't lost, to me that suggests they're still a way off, if you see it differently then so be it :redface:
 
To me... NZ can never field their strongest side. SBW will be huge for them but what odds is he to be available at end of the year.

Marshall isn't a favourite for the spot now, I thought Johnson and Foran were great last night and Hoffman... With the exception of a couple of errors was great.

It was exactly the same before the 2008 World Cup and 2010 Four Nations ... I don't think you could find a more irrelevant stat if you tried. It's more about watching the game objectively.

SBW I can't see playing the World Cup even if he is fit ... be good if he could though. No doubt a few will be missing, but I think you'll see more players tour than say the 2011 Four Nations when they were really injury weakened ... purely because it's a World Cup.

I'm not looking for stats, I'm just saying NZ have lost their last 7 games over 3 years while Australia have won all of theirs, it's as simple as that. The only way they can win imo is if their stars align and Australia are hit with mass injury.

Naturally you want to think NZ are a better chance and they might be in the WC but to me they've done nothing to suggest they will ever be a consistent threat, you gotta win at least 2 games in a row for that.

Boyd was very MIA.
 
I thought Boyd took quite a few great runs from dummy half, something he's been doing so well for us this year. His defence was also first class. Other than that he didn't really set the world on fire, but neither did most of the others.

You weren't even talking about being a consistent threat, what I replied to was you saying NZ won't be able to beat Australia anytime soon. I was saying the previous results have nothing to do with it, and that it was fairly obvious NZ did well last night for the amount and quality of players out.

It's impossible to have a discussion when you go off on another tangent every single reply.

Going by last year DCE is third choice ... he's Queensland's third pick after all, and I can't see them going with Pearce! :lol:

Glenn was really good. I reckon Foran did a great job as captain too, even if he is fourth choice. I'd be tempted to keep him on for the World Cup.
 
Yeah I'd say DCE too, if he's not available then we'd truly be screwed. Fingers crossed Thurston and Cronk are fit at season's end.

Glenn and Foran were NZ's best players I thought, Hoffman was good too. Foran handled himself well, he should be NZ's permanent captain and not even bother with Mannering.
 
Foran was one of the best on the field last night, I thought. The only criticism I've had with him is that he usually went missing at test level, but he was awesome last night.

Johnson was pretty good too, but I'd probably prefer Benji for the WC.
 
Congratulations to the NSW under 20's side on A dominant 36 - 12 victory over the Maroons.

Hopefully it's a common theme this year NSW beating QLD :D
 
I was going for the QLD team since I'm only a state-trader when it comes to the real SOO lol Mann had a pretty good game but geez NSW's forwards just dominated that game. It's good signs for the Blues that's for sure. Tanginoa is easily one of the best up and coming backrowers in the game, his defence and strong hit ups are equally impressive, he hasn't looked out of place in first grade for a second this year and again showed tonight why guys like him and Klemmer are too good for Holden Cup. It's a shame Pat and Clydesdale weren't available, would've made it alot more entertaining.

I thought George Jennings played really well too. Much like his brother with his style of play and your right there are some great signs for both sides in the future. Lots to look forward too.
