Who will Bennett axe, retain & recruit for 2013?

I reckon we were probably keen on him earlier when Smith wasn't an option because Bennett knows he can be the job done, probably where all the rumours came from & we pulled the deal because we no longer need him which is why he is retiring. Just a thought. I really do hope we sign someone else as well as Smith, the squad is looking pretty thin next year.

Top 25 isnt shaping up to be too bad next year. A prop and project Hooker should be all we really need after J.Smith.
 
Yeah we have enough to fill up a roster, but the top 17 that comes out of that is probably only a slight upgrade on this year's & the depth players are barely first-graders, let alone the depth players outside of the 25 .
 
All those top 25 players can do the job, and Beau Scott and Jeremy Smith alone make us way stronger than this year.

Name me a side in the NRL that has any depth outside their top 25?

Well to start this season we had 27 players that had experienced first-grade already excluding Daine Laurie & mid season buys Willie Mason & Dane Gagai. I'm just saying i think we need atleast 2 or 3 more signings with a bit of experience to harden up the roster.

Scott covers for Taia, Smith covers for Edwards. Scott & Taia are level so like i said, the 17 is a slight upgrade on this year's, not huge yet.

I have no doubt there will be a couple more (quality) names added to the squad. Fingers crossed any way ;)

We've barely had a need to use any extra players in the second half of the season once we've settled on a top 17 though.

Bennett's pre-season has paid off, in that injuries are way down (even if it has debatedly made us tired at times during the year).

I think we look brilliant for next season. There will be a couple of signings to come yet.
 
We have weakness in our bench. Mainly with a specialist experienced prop and a hooker
Outside Mckinnon Rochow and Sims. Our junior forward stock currently is weak

These would give us a higher standard of juniors and quality experienced established first graders to choose from!

Buddy you might as well run into the locker room with a sledge hammer and shatter all of their knee caps with that comment! Way to jinx it.
 
There's a chance we aren't getting Smith. A big draw card for us was trading Sau to compensate for Smith. However Cronulla have signed Jono Wright from the Dogs to play in the centres... If they no longer need Sau then there's a chance they won't release Smith. It might have something to do with why its taken so long
 
They can't fit Smith, Gallen, Lewis, Graham, Bukuya & Tupou in the same team surely. They just want the compensation money & they will release him. It would have taken so long because it would be dumb to announce it just before the Sharks v Knights game.
 
I think taia will be sorely missed to be honest. we have scott and houston play similar roles. if we dont get smith then we have costigan and hilder at lock. Taia is making alot of meters for short amount of game time. I dunno maybe its just ill miss him lol

Think we'll all miss him, out of all the players being cleaned out over last 2 seasons this is the only one that hurts IMO
