Tinkler Pulls Out - NBN News reporting

Burro/Tew thinks (just said) the public trust option is better then a tinkler take over...

I would suggest that the only reason that they think it is better is that it would guarantee that the current crop of management imposters keep their job!

I have a feeling it is Tinkler making a big push, and will try and get the members to vote out the current management. This is by far over yet!
i think it is mate, he has the money and there is plenty more things to buy now. he doesnt need the knights he has hundreds of race horse a share in v8 supercars an A- league team plus much more on his plate. he is more than likely going to forget the knights , and that is going to be a big blow to the finances of this once great club.

dont know if u know but tinkler was an eleco who took a chance borrowed a mill and was lucky to make it big so he wasnt born with a silver spoon in his mouth

Yeah i agree, me thinks its secretly called the "Burro + Tew Tyranny Model", publically known as the public trust model.

I dont think the public can trust that burro/tew can get the job done.

Yaaay my comment was broadcast over the ABC :D:D

Burro + Tew need to resign, put that vote to the members, Tinkler = best for knights.

So just because Tinlker pulled out due to the board looking over the fine print makes the newcastle knights not a great club. You must not be a true knights fan at all to seriously suggest this club is no longer great over this one incident.

TBH the deal didn't sound as good as we all thought/hoped it was.
If the press release that was released last night was correct then the juniors would have lost out big time and in the end tinkler was only guaranteeing money, not investing it, so this grand total of $100m would only have been if no members renewed, all our sponsors did a runner and no one turned up to the games.
I think we all agree that the knights in their current situation are struggling (no jonno I'm not having a go at the board) but we need to look at where an injection of funds could come from.
Why don't we have a leagues club? Who was the genius who sold it to the panthers group?
Do we look at teaming up with someone like wests who have a number of leagues clubs?
I saw an earlier post about newcastles population compared to the capital cities, you should compare the knights to the raiders who have 7 clubs and something like $35m in assets (it was in yesterdays DT) that is how the board should be running the knights

Congrats to any one who votes out the current board to push Tinkler in on the current proposal. On the current proposal from Tinkler and co, the Knights will be gone in a few years anyway. He didn't include any junior development into his plans, the contract was only for 2 years, not 10, and the projected input was actually an estimated 30 million not 100 like most people think.

People are so blinded by the $$$ it is not funny.

"Tinkler's offer was a mirage, Just like we thought under Tinklers deal he would be paying nothing!!"

Press Conference Newcastle Knights

Now that the emotions of this incedent are starting to die down people are starting to realise that the knights have actually dodged a huge bullet as the Tinkler deal was S*** in reality to what everyone thought he was offering.

I said it before and I'll say it again: " If something is too good to be true it usually is".

Tinkler buys the jets and at the end of the season the club make a statement saying that the club is looking at producing more home grown players and promoting youth. Why would he change for the knights!! I will follow the knights through thick and thin, but these two *** clowns have to go. Tinkler is avid knights lover, we have grown our own local talents for the last 23yrs why would Tinkler change the way of the past when thats how he/we have grown up watching. There is more to come out of this and we "DEFINITELY" haven't seen the last of Tinkler.

So what nathan is doing for the jets is sh*t?
He saved them from collapsing.

I know jets and the knights are different, but i surely doubt nathan would fk the knights as a club. Whether he's deal sits right with everyone or not, he will undoubtably be the best thing for the knights.

I've been following a few threads related to this Tinkler offer and some of you have a one side perspective on this issue. There's always 2 sides to every argument and a few of you have not heard all the facts.

Burruston & Tew are looking at the Knights on a long term financial basis not a short term money gain. Tinkler's offer, though sounding very tempting to accept, needed further scrutiny. I listened to the conference posted earlier and it seems that the board have definitely been the ones hard done by. Some members on this forum need to go into detail as to why they think the board should step down. I for one, believe they've gone about it the right way, looking at the facts and fine print before putting it to a vote to members.

Tinkler's impatience is his downfall. You can't just demand the purchase of a football club. He's like a spoilt kid that wants that PS3 yesterday and throws a hissy fit when he can't have it.

I'm glad Burruston & Tew allowed themselves till today to call a press conference. It's just sad that a man with the amount of wealth that Tinkler has, doesn't seem to share the same sentiment. He's not buying a figgin Ferrari, he's buying a football club with all the trimmings. This is not something he can put in his trophy cabinet or the garage.

If, and I mean if, the board members do decide to stand down, then I hope they do it for the right reasons and not be bullied by in house pressure.

In light of this ongoing saga, the Knights are still in capable hands and have a worthy team to make the top 8 in 2011.

Yeah changing the colors of their team without discussing it with anyone.. Sounds like a great manager..

Great post mate!!! +rep

Ok so if tinklers offer is actually just gaurenteeing the club makes $10mil a year (whether he pays anything or not), he is gaurenteeing the club will make that much per year. If it makes $12mil, profit. If it makes for example $5mil, he foots the other $5.

Currently if the knights are at a loss what happens? They take loans, they get into debt.

So over the next 10 years, the knights may accumulate more debt in their current situation, if tinkler was on board, the knights would have no debt, and a gaurenteed $10mil per year.

I highly doubt he wouldnt pump extra into the club.

Burro/Tew, not letting members vote on tinklers offer..... Yep thats also great management.

They may not like it, but they are two people. What about the 75% of members that a yes is needed from?

Give the members a chance to vote, if members say no, then of course its a no, but if its a yes, then who gives two hoots what burro/tew think.

Oh haha just remembered that, the Jets look pretty stupid now in red & blue since Tinkler doesn't & won't own the Knights.
