Honestly i have no idea i think the Knights ned to get some of that Newcastle never die attitude back. during footy season i use to watch the choosday night matches there was one from 2001. i can not recall who it was against but the never die attitude and pure fight was what made that team.

Well, unfortunately we only see glimpses of the 'old' Newcastle nowadays.

They just don't seem to play with the same passion as they used to, it's not the lack of talent or playing ability but the lack of passion that we fail to see from this team.
 
i think we have one of the most talented teams in the league with the likes of.
Gidley, Mullen, Uate, Sau and heaps more, but yeah it is like you said NF 47 the team has no passion. the days were harragon was captain was the days of passion. the team didnt need tailord jerseys like we see today they just had pride in the red and blue.
p.s robbie o'davis looked like he was always wearing a dress when he played but god what a player.
 
Difference between now and then, is that we arnt getting disgraced in games without Gidley. In the past no Johns = Bet the house on an opposition win 13+. Nowadays, they tend to be in the majority of games for long periods of time.
 
yes that is very true, we should of one more than half of the games we lost this yar we just could not finish the opposition, one thing stone needs to improve big time.
 
i think your right about the passion being gone you look back a chief and o davis bedsy an the johns boys just to name a few, they all had so much pride in the jersey and the club and area in general but these days kurt seems to be the only one, the rest in all honesty as much as i love them deem like theyd just go were the biggest paycheck is coming from
 
yes i have the greatest respect for all the boys but you forgot to mention one player dan tolar. when he was captain for that one game he played off his feet and he does every game he plays.
 
yeah i am not saying that he doesnt have the same pride i am just saying i see gids as prob the only knights player who would take a pay cut to stay at the knights over getting a offer from another nrl team offering more, cant see anyone doing that atm

but you never know i could be dead wrong

I think Mullen would take a pay cut too, even though his head isn't in the right place all the time. But I think that's more of lack of confidence, rather then passion. Also, MacDougall is on pretty cheap money as well and is pretty passionate on the field.

Maybe not as passionate as the other 3, but imo Hilder and De Gois always try their best.
 
Yeah, maybe that's why all the old Knights supporters are always complaining about the lack of juniors? You never know, it may not be racism, it could just be the fact that they want to see local juniors who take pride in the jersey play their hearts out like Gidley, Tolar, Edwards, Mullen, Dureau etc. even if they aren't the best juniors to come out of the Hunter.
 
Yeah, I have to agree with Aidos, I also think Mullen could possibly take a pay cut, and also the fact that he is an on and off player. Does anyone think that Gidley & Mullen will be a one man club? I hope they both are, they are the heart and soul of the Knights! :)

Another person i think would take a pay cut and i know this is weird but Mark tafua, he is a local boy and said he wants to stay with the knights for his career. What do we think about Uate will he stay for his career even if there is a pay cut.

Yeah, Mark's a loyal guy, but he seems like the kind of player that teams force out when there to close to the cap, hopefully the Knights don't do that coz Mark's 1 of my fave players. Uate is hard to tell, no doubt he has passion but i can't see him being a 1 clubber. Cory, Kevin & McManus also seem like they have alot of passion for the club.
 
I think Aku will stay loyal, he seems to be very dedicated to his football and participates in a lot of local charities and does a lot for the club off the field.

For some reason I can't see Gidley or Mullen finishing at Newcastle though.

i really do see alot of our players staying with the knights but i could be wrong, i always said cooper vuna would stay and i was wrong :(
 
nah yeah i dont see mullen and gids ending there career at the knights i see them ending up overseas but most players do that nowa days, i dont see them playing for another arl club

What does that mean?

Calling for individual players to take pay cuts WTF? Especially Mullen, he'd just leave and, with the shortage of halfbacks around, he'd end up getting MORE money. Then who you going to replace him with?

Then in another post you hope he'll be a one club player WTF!

Your bagging them one sentence and praising the next.
