Well once you say you're going to tap it, you have to tap it, when you say you're kicking for goal, you have to kick for goal ... I think if they tried this the ref would just ask them to kick for touch again as they have not done what they said they would, or they would penalise us.
If we vaguely gestured towards the sideline but didn't say anything then it would be okay ... like Thurston did against us last year. But in that case why not just tap it and pass.
You put up a compelling argument. Even today he tried the cross field kick for Vuna and it went straight into touch.
The kick off the scrum last week for Uate's try was by Gidley, wasn't it?
I actually ment kick for touch, but surely you can't get penalised for not finding touch? You see it atleast once every game, so why can't you make a set play that doesn't find touch, it'd be just liek taking the tap, except I think you would have more chance of finding them off guard.

I don't know of any rule stopping you for kicking for a player instead of touch.
Thats because its normally the player trying to bite off more then he can chew, and no players from his team are close to the ball.
10 metres out from the line I think the ref expects u to find touch, unless u disguise it well by falling over when kicking it or something.
I don't see the point of trying to score a try through deception like that - it's not in the spirit of the game. Why not concentrate on trying to legitimately break the defensive line?
Yeh, if we ever scored a try like that It would feel like scoring a try in the 79th when your losing 50-0. Empty.
Since when is a try like that not a try? That's like saying, taking the tap from a penalty and making cheap metres isn't right? or when Campbell tried to trick the Dragons on the 80th minute by accidently stepping out and trying to run 100 metres to score?
and did you see any stupid penalty kicks during the game, apart from one on the 40th minute, which was still stupid, but nothing to blow up about like taking the 2 in the 45th minute, and extending your lead from 2 tries, to 2 tries?

You didn't exactly dazzle us all with your original statement. Its hard to argue with a statement that comes out of nowhere. Mullen has always had a strong kicking game, his long kicking game is top notch but as for all other types of kicks he is of at least NRL standard. There really isnt an argument I can make to convince you of that, its just something anybody watching the Knights play would notice. He puts the wrong type of kick in sometimes, I think he could vary it up a bit, but that wasnt your point. We have scored some good tries off kicks this season with Aku n co leaping high and 9 times out of 10 the kicker from that area of the field has been Mullen
